Help! Name Change advise

I was so confused with my name I didn't know what to sign, my old name or my new name. I figured out that I would sign my maiden name until I officially change my name. But my question to you guys is where do I begin and what needs to be changed. Would if I get check with my maiden name on it after I change my name will it still be fine? I don't know where to begin so please help me

Social Security?

How long did it take you guys to get your new card? I went and changed my info exactly 2 weeks ago and still no card. I know they say 2 weeks and you should call, but I'm wondering if this is typical...

I think it was somewhere between one and two weeks when I got mine.

It's making me nervous...

it's been 2 weeks so I figure someone has clearly stolen my identity and is now erasing my whole life! I guess I should go back to see them.

Or it could just be that between Social Security employees and postal employees taking summer vacations, there is a slight delay. Maybe you can make a phone call or send an e-mail via their web site to save yourself a trip over there.
