NWR..... new coffee table with pics:) at bottom

We need a new one because we got our new couches (Yeah!) but the old coffee table is too big.

My question is this.....
wood or glass top?

Wood scratches easily, dents easily too, and gets water stains from the glass that just gets left behind.

Glass scratches, and finger prints galor get left behind!

So whatcha think?

I have a wooden coffee table... and I LOVE IT... but... I hate that it scratches... I think maybe next time I would either get a glass one, b/c even if the glass breaks you can replace it... or another wooden one with a glass made to go on top of it.

You can always puy four square ottomans together and form a 'coffee table'. We have something similar with the ottomans under a square glass coffee table, but you really don't need the coffee table. They sell storage ottomans where the tops come off and flip, so they're either wood 'table tops' or soft cushions to sit on (that's what we have). We love them! And you can put all sorts of stuff in them to save space!

Bed, Bath and Beyond sells the ones we have for about 75 bucks per ottoman, but with the 20% coupons, they come to about $60 each!

If your heart isn't set on glass or wood, this isn't a bad option - and it's modern and practical!

This is the coffee table we have, but we have storage ottomans from BBB under it, instead of the ones with the holes in them.

I've got a wood one, I love it, I have a pretty fabric covering the top so it won't get scratched up

we have a wood one from ikea, the one with all the square compartments, i've had it for 3 years and there's not one scratch on it.

me and my fiance have dark wooden trunk style coffee and side tables....glass to me wasn't a good idea bc when i was growing up we had one w glass and my mom was always complaining how much of a pain in the butt it was to clean and no matter what it always looked dirty bc it was a dust magnet

NO GLASS, I HAVE GLASS, GOD HELP ME....DONT GET ME WRONG, my table is BEAUTIFUL....but its a PAIN to clean...u can see the dust, overtime glass scratches...no glass lol

I have kids - so glass is out for me! It was out before I had kids, because I had nephews. It is cheaper though!

I have wood and I LOVE it. Lighter wood hides scratches and dents, etc.. better than dark wood. Consider a wood that shows the natural grain so that a scratch won't look like a huge anamoly!

I have had glass for a really long time......also have 2 kids....8 yr. old girl and a VERY energetic 3 yr old boy we lovingly refer to as 'Hurricane Andrew'.....never had a problem with the glass tables that a little windex couldn't fix!
