UPDATE... Bottle hair dyers out there???
Okay, I am getting more grey hair planning this wedding and I cannot afford to go to my colorist
Okay so maybe I have been spoiled
Can anyone reccomend a good product?? My brothers graduation is Friday, I would like to look like his sister, not mother
UPDATE: I cried like a child to the FH, he caved and gave me the $$ to get it done(of course I had to do my part
) So my colorist said that if I would have done it myself, I would be all red b/c I was covering my old highlights!!! But thanks for all the suggestions!!!!!!

Re: Bottle hair dyers out there???
i have never ever been to a salon to have my hair dyed. it was just one of those things i could never rbing myself to spend the money on when i can do it myself. i literally use whatver is on sale. i go to CVS find the sale and pick a color. now mind you this is easy for me bc i have dark hair so nothing will ever really change my color except for bleach. but any color i put in actually highlights my hair. people usually think i have highlights. i can put in a blonde color and get beautiful 'sun kissed' highlights. i dont know if it is just my hair but it comes out great everytime.

You are too funny!
Do you get highlights or single process color? If highlights, that is going to be hard to replicate but if it's just single process, straight color you can easily do it. If you have a good relationship with your colorist call her and tell her the $$$ situation and ask her what she uses on you. Once she gives you the name/number/brand of color go to the beauty supply store and buy the color-there are a few beauty supply stores on LI that will sell to non-industry professionals. Even if she doesn't tell you the exact number it's ok. You really want to stick with the professional brand whether it be Redken, Wella, Goldwell, ect. That will prevent you damaging your hair and will save you money when you do go back to the salon. They won't have to do color correction on you, just the same color as always.

Re: Bottle hair dyers out there???
I myself have not been in a hair or nail salon for close to 15 years.. Ive been cuttin , coloring & fill ins myself, & You would never know the diff,,K, with that said , I am preamature grey too. & of course its just on the forehead part,,
I use ,
clairol grey busters, u have to use a shade that best matches your hair, whch if u dont know what u are doing , your f'ed.. If you go to sally they know what they are doing & they can help you match the colros, I use a 20 volume too , thats great for white hair..

Re: Bottle hair dyers out there???
You are too funny! I normally get mine done by a friend, but when I do do it myself I use the Loreal Preference and try to stick pretty close to my hair color. The pictures on the top of the box are pretty close to what I get.

Re: Bottle hair dyers out there???
I used to dye my hair on a regular basis back in college. I always used Feria by Loriel and my hair came out great. Also I took good care of my hair, used conditioner, and when I finally decided to go back to my natural color I cut it all off and donated 12 inches to Locks of Love, and they took it even though it was colored because it was healthy.HTH
