Florist ???
Hi Ladies,I am getting married 11/10/07, we have the church and RD picked out. My next thing to do is decide on photo/video, dj & flowers.
A question about florist......do I need to know exactly how many CP I am going to need before I make an appointment or is an estimate good enough? I know how many I will need for the BP..
TIA!!! I am clueless on this stuff since I just started and need some help!!!

Re: Florist ???
I gave him an estimate and he gave me the price per CP... then I told him when the wedding comes closer that we would confirm the exact amount. He said that was standard practice-- that he usually goes over all the final details RIGHT before the wedding and gets the final count on everything!

Re: Florist ???
You can give an estimate for flower centerpieces, on my contract I have a minimum of 25 CP's but I know it will be more. I can change my mind up to a week before the wedding whether I want more or less flowers, I'm not held down to my contract w/Designs by Rose.

Re: Florist ???
Well you will tell him how many approx. guests you'll have. If the florist knows the RH, he'll know what kind of tables there are and how many they seat, so he'll do a count in his head of how many tables you'll have! If he DOESNT know how many people your RH tables seat, youll have to tell him...

Re: Florist ???
Hi kris01.
I would say that you should have a general idea of what you want so you can start working on a budget.
If you're having 200 guests or more, you will probably have anywhere between 18-20 tables (depending on how many you sit at each table). Some halls have tables that seat up to 12 people. You can also easily make up a list that consists of your wedding party and go from there:
- 5 bouquets for bridesmaids
- 8 bouts for groomsmen, fathers and ring bearer
- Bride's bouquet and 1 toss bouquet
- flowers for Mother of bride and mother of groom (if applicable)
- flowers for ceremony site or church
- petals for flowergirls and for aisle (if you want that)
- Centerpieces
- sweetheart table floral arrangements (if you want one, although many brides either line up the bridesmaids bouquets at their table or have candles instead to save $$$)
Another thing to keep in mind is the type of flowers you will be using. Roses are a basic wedding floral choice and aren't as expensive as hydrangeas, orchid, tulips, peonies, etc. If you want a really exotic arrangement of flowers then expect the price to go up.
Good luck.

Re: Florist ???
I checked with my hall with how many people sit at a table. I then estimated how many tables I would have. When I went to the florists they will estimate with the number you give them. You can also ask to write in your ontract how much for each one. This way if you end up with less or more you are able to figure it out.

Re: Florist ???
An estimate is probably good. I don't think anyone would expect you to know the exact numbers this early on and you have to book your florist pretty early in the game!

Re: Florist ???
agreed! you can give an estimate- but sometimes the florists will know just by the number you give them.I met with john from flower michele and i told him how many people and where we were having the reception and he knew how many tables b/c of experience....
good luck!
