ADVICE ON BM'S GIFTS

I waited too long to order the bags I had originally wanted to get my BM's from the Gap which were PERFECT! So..now I found another bag..and want to know if any of you know if I can monogram them myself? It costs $5.00 more.

I think the bag is so cute. I would think that on canvas that a monogram would only stay on the material if it is sewn in..I am not sure that an iron on would stay...but I am clueless about DIY stuff so take what I say with a grain of salt. I really like the bags though!!!
