HELP! What should I do??? Re: Huntington Townhouse
SO girls -I am sure many of you have heard about Huntington Townhouse. I called a couple weeks ago to find out if things were still a-ok for my wedding and Mr. Silver said everything is fine.
It seems though that many brides who even booked this year are moving their locations to a different spot to reduce the stress that any removal of the townhouse will be happening sooner than expected. Some suggest I move. My wedding planner found another spot at another place and it just so happens to be the final spot that pretty much anyone has at this point. This place even said that they have had three brides transfer to them from HT in the last couple of weeks.
I have no problem moving - HOWEVER - HT has $9000 of my money. I want it back of course. So I need to give them a call tomorrow to cancel the wedding - BUT
I need to know what do you think I should say to them? Some suggested to say I was concerned about what is going on there and that I want to reduce stress OR just straight up cancel b/c of various reasons ... what do you think would work best in my favor to be able to get most of my money?

Re: HELP! What should I do??? Re: Huntington Townhouse
Be honest .. This place has been around for so many years I really doubt that Ms Rona Silver or whatever her name is is looking to screw you or anyone out of money i think that if you are honest with her she will do the right thing and give you your money back. best wishes

Re: HELP! What should I do??? Re: Huntington Townhouse
There's a suffolk county law that a bride can cancel her wedding and receive her deposit back as long as the cancellation is before the 6 month mark. There was a thread on this with the exact wording - try a search.

I dont think anything will be happening to the TownHouse all that soon. They cant just knock it down and put up condos that quickly. Everything has to be approved first, but it is your call, do whatever makes you feel comfortable

Re: HELP! What should I do??? Re: Huntington Townhouse
first look at your contract. i dont think you fit into the suffolk law of within 6 months.and if all is well, tell them that you are cancelling. you do not have to give any reasons, just say personal reasons.
good luck! let us know what happened.

Have your wedding planner make the call and do the battle for you.

also ..it is acceptable that you can look at public records... got to the town of huntinton and ask to see any indication of demolition or anything of that sort ... i would talk to a lawyer also .. just to relieve the stress... you do not nee this right now ...i would find another place that you are comfortable with.. ..

Re: HELP! What should I do??? Re: Huntington Townhouse
I would call them and tell them that you are thinking about looking into other halls and you were wondering what would happen to the money that you already left with them. Ask them up front if you would get your money back or do you lose that deposit. You should not have to give them a reason for canceling though, just tell them it is personal reasons that you do not wish to discuss. Good luck and please keep us posted.

Re: HELP! What should I do??? Re: Huntington Townhouse
I would move to a new place. Yes, they have been around a while, but really what do they care about their business now. If not the owners, think about the workers. They are loosing their jobs, so they most likely don't care about doing a good job.I don't want to upset you but, this is my opinion. If you already found a new place, book it. Have you bridal planner call and see what she can do. They might not give you your deposit back, but you should get most of your money back. I would fight with them.
Good Luck!

I'd call them and really try to get the whole story.... I don't know... My mom is a mural artist and was just called by them 3 weeks ago to do a mural on a brick wall there in the picture-taking area.... she did mention condos, but according to my mom it seems like there are LOTS of acres there and the condos are being put up on a different section.... doesn't seem like you'd start to renovate and invest money if you're going to rip it down....good luck! Let me know!

If you are that worried, then you should cancel tis place out and try to get your money back.My understanding is that it is just a proposal at this point. Nothing has been approved yet.
Good luck!

Re: HELP! What should I do??? Re: Huntington Townhouse
I just went through the same thing with my old hall. I canceled because of construction directly across the street. I dont think I am going to get my deposit back because of our contract, but I am going to try and see if I can put that money towards a RD. Also, we didnt give them that much money. In the end, I didnt see the point of giving them any more money if I was going to be a nervous wreck and unhappy.

I would still pursue it. They are not going to re-book anything if the condos go up before her wedding.

Hi I am having my wedding here and you had you booked here but not sure if you ended up having choosing another spot. I am a little worried about the whole thing if they will still exist by the time I have my wedding May 27, 2007. Any suggestions!Welcome New Vendors
