How did you ask your parents about budget?

My family is another state and I am planning on calling him tonight. I'm so worried... I hate that I have to do this on the phone...

I think that $$ is always a hard subject! I called my parents (who live in CA) and explained that we were starting to think about planning the wedding and wanted to know if they were planning to contribute. Its all in the tone you use. Chances are that they have already been planning for this!

Don't be worried. We didn't have to worry about that as we're paying for the wedding ourselves but my mom voluteered a small sum and for that we're grateful. I hope it goes well for you.

Discussing money is always a difficult issue. I suggest to just open up the subject and mention your financial difficulties and see where it goes from there. You should get an idea pretty quickly as to where they stand on contributing.
