card box

Someone suggested to me that it seems rude to put out a card box, like its almost as if your saying 'here's where you can put my money!!'

I was going to do one, but now I'm not sure. Thoughts??

TIA!

Re: card box

I don't think it's rude at all to tell you the truth...I think it makes you more organized! You can do something cute with the box or even a birdcage which one of my BM used and I loved it so I'll probably do the same thing. You'll feel better at the end of the night too when you don't have to worry about dropping or losing one either! :o)

Re: card box

I don't think it's rude, as long as you don't make it center-stage at the reception. We put ours on a table off to the side so it's there if people need it, but it's not right in everyone's face. We also got quite a few cards from people who had already sent us gifts, but wanted to give us a card on the wedding day. It was nice to have a central place for them to put it in as opposed to having to take care of it yourself.

Re: card box

We had a photo cube on display behind our sweetheart table. Everyone loved looking at the pics of us. All of our guests gave the cards to either DH, my parents, or me. Then, we put the cards in the box ourselves. I don't think it's rude. It's an effective way to keep all of the gifts together and to ensure nothing gets lost or stolen.

Re: card box

I'm having a card box. It was fun to make and will be neat to display. I am sure no one will put the cards in the box, buts its a nice touch.

Re: card box

My hall actually requested that we have one for the gift table... so I don't think it's rude or in bad taste to have it.

Re: card box

i don't think it's rude. i remember being a guest at a wedding recently and like several other guests, i had trouble understanding where to put my gift card. we all, of course, did not want to give it to the wrong person. after all, it's money and a lot of it.

Re: card box

we are having one just to keep everything together and to make sure nothing gets misplaced. my 'grandfather' made a wishing well a few years ago for my cousins wedding and it is something that all the members in my family have used since, my grandma just changes the colors on it to correspond with ours.

Re: card box

Card boxes are so common place now. Years back it was not. Then again think about when everything else just came out like regestries. Now we can't imagine not having them. IMO people are now accustomed to it. I wouldn't think twice about having it. The time saved during the reception using them is worth it.

Re: card box

We had a photocube and I was worried that people might feel offended but for the entire night most people thought it was just a set of pictures. When they lined up to say good bye so many of DH's family loved the idea that it was a cardbox. His Aunt even asked to put the card in herself. How cute?!!!

Re: card box

I dont think its rude, personally when I got to a wedding I bring such a small bag I want to put the card somewhere safe ASAP so I don't lose it or crumple it.
