Photo/Video HELP!
So far planning has gone smoothly but now I'm stuck and I had my first wedding day nightmare last night....It was a lovely day and everything went perfectly BUT I forgot to book the photo/video. I've been having some trouble finding someone for our photo/video. It's been pretty difficult because I am planning from Florida and I can't go to places to check out their books. All I have to go by is their web site, which is hard because you can't really tell a photographers style from just a few photos. I would really like someone who can do both photo and video (I just like the idea of them working together). I've checked into the Commack Wedding Center and I am happy with them but I just didn't get that good feeling when I spoke to them. I have also checked into Mark Kauffman, I like his style (he sent a video that shows some of his books) but he is a bit too expensive. I don't want anything too artsy just some nice photos. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Try imaginestudios.net. They are a husband and wife who do video and photography respectively. I have heard nothing but great things about them and they are really easy to work with. They have several packages so you can pick one within your budget.

Here's the website for my photographer. He has prices listed to give you an idea of how much he costs. http://www.liwedding.com/rickandco/ I am also planning from out of town, so I only saw two photographers, but his work is good and he is recommended by my hall so we booked him. He does have a photo/video package.

Take a look at Spelman Studios
They are a studio in Deer Park. They do both photo & video, and have several different packages you can choose from. She shoots a mix of photojournalistic, candid, and posed shots. My FH doesn't like photojournalstic or candid stuff, but I do, so it was a good compromise for us. Christine Spelman is the owner, and is such a doll! She's been doing wedding photography for almost 20 years now. They did my girlfriend's wedding a little over a year ago. They were totally unobtrusive, to the point that my FH and I don't remember seeing Christine at all, and we thought they didn't get the video package. After seeing her proofs, final album & video, we decided to book her. The website is http://www.spelmanstudios.com Best of luck to you.

Check out Wild Rose for video. They are great! And their prices are also good. For Photographers: Try ADA in Smithtown if you want nice, not artsy photos. But if you like Mark's style call VIP. He used to work for Mark, but is a lot cheaper.

Photo/Video HELP!
I am also planning the wedding from out of town (live in Boston) and did a lot of research on the web before meeting with photograhers in NY. I ended up picking Impact Imaging. The photograhper's name is Conrad and he does all of the photos himself and I feel really comfortable with him and liked the books he showed me of his work. He is also really reasonable - budget was also a concern for us. His website is www.impactimagingonline.com if you want to look at his work. We decided not to go with a video but I know he does that as well. Good Luck!

Great (and inexpensive) photo/video
I am working with a guy named John Braile through Creative Media Productions. He is very nice and very reasonable. His work is totally comporable to the big studios we have seen and we are getting photo/video for $2000 total. The package includes more than what we saw at other places for close to $4000. His number is 631-696-1600. He came highly recommended to me by 4 different brides. Good luck!

Great (and inexpensive) photo/video
I'm hoppin' on the VIP Studios train...his albums seemed great and he is not expensive - giving us a lot for our money. I decided not to do a video to cut costs...

Great (and inexpensive) photo/video
After reading only rave reviews on here, I couldn`t wait to see what VIP had to offer. While I found John to be a very lovely man, I wasn`t overly impressed with his work. The two albums that he showed me had quite a few shots of the bride with her eyes closed. I hope when it comes time for me to choose less than 50 pictures from hundreds of proofs for an album, I don`t have to have more than one key shot that`s not absolutely perfect. I also didn`t like his photographic vision. I love the photojournalistic style, but his seemed to be somewhere between posed, and photojournalistic. Also, he couldn`t guarantee that if we booked, he would be our photographer. Instead, we may have worked with another photographer he deals with. Overall, if you`re on a budget, you might like VIP studios, but I`m a very detail oriented person, and it was the details that I just didn`t like. Please ladies, don`t take this the wrong way. We all like different styles, and his style just wasn`t mine.
