I think it is totally up to you

There are some beautiful hotels and reception sites on Long Island. It really depends on what you want.

We are going with a hotel

We decided to go with the Wyndam Wind Watch hotel in Hauppauge. It is a really beautiful hotel and I really liked what we could get for the price. Also, my fiance is from Scotland and I live in Boston so we will be having a lot of out of town guests and it is just more convienent for all considered to have the reception at a hotel. I am sure you will find either a reception hall or hotel that you will fall in love with and know that it is the place for you to have your wedding. Good Luck with your planning!

Srykert, Thanks for your information. If you don't mind mentioning,what package did they give you? I am really considering doing the reception at a hotel do the the cost factor. Thanks!
