Repost from BHB-Where can my mom find a plus-sized dress for under $600?

I just went shopping for the 4th time with my mom to look for MOB dresses. She is getting really frustrated because the only stores that seem to carry plus sized dresses have dresses that cost $900 and up. That is really out of control for a dress - my dress only cost $700.00

We have already tried Estelles, Dina's, Totally You, and Moonlight Couture in Merrick .. any suggestions?

Please help my mom, she is getting so upset by this whole situation and I dont want to see her sad.

I purchased my lovely 3 piece floor length outfit from Sugar Plum in Lynbrook. They have a website sugarplumonline.com

I paid $ 450 after trying on several higher priced dresses. I received many compliments and enjoyed my dress & low heels that matched.

Enjoy yourself at the wedding ... I did.

my mom had a TERRIBLE experience at sugarplum. rude salespeople, lies about their dresses being 'one of a kind' and that's why the tage are ripped out and we didn't find ANY plus sized dresses under $600 at all.

we went to a new store on merrice road in baldwin right next to wholesale liquidators. they were nice, friendly and her dress was $150!!! a brand new sample that was discontinued! i forget the name of the store but give them a try. FM me if you need better directions/info

Try David's Bridal they carry ALL SIZES.....

In Bellport Outlet #2 there was a place called Gowns 4 U. I am not sure if it is still there but if it is they are all discounted dresses and they have all sizes. Good Luck.

my mom got her gown at the wedding plaza in floral park, it was about 450

My mom had a similar experience! Snotty AND rude.

The saleswoman wouldn't even tell her the size of the dress because it's a 'special code' that only they understand.

She also told us to buy that day because the 'garment industry closes in July and August'

We ended up getting a nice $300+ dress at Queen of Hearts where they treated her right.

Try Paradise Bridal - they had a pretty big selection of MOB dresses. My Mom is going there to look for hers.
