Some do, some make you pay

I saw sooo may halls and they all had a different story. My hall had this big open house tasting and they set up the cocktail hour room like they would for a smaller wedding. I felt like I was at an affair just without dancing and I didn't know anyone! It was free. I think they do thsi every few months or something. I booked but had them but in the conract that I would get my money back if I was not satisfied with the food tasting. I went to a private food tasting at the Thatched Cottage (it was really good) where they set you up in the bridal suite with your fiance and if you want your parents. Some places said you have to visit their restaurant..some said they would pay and some said they would re-imburse you. Others straight out said no...they do not offer tasings. I guess every place is different.

Where did you have your reception? Isn''t it a little weird how some allow couples to taste their food and others don''t? I think its as if they are trying to hide something b/c if it is THAT great as they say their food is, they should have no problem offering you a taste before the big event. You are right though every place is different. I am just really picky and read into things that company''s do too much! I just don''t want to be taken advantage of on anything.

Food was one of the most important things for me...I wanted a lot of good food. I am getting married at the North Ritz Club. And especially b/c it is sooo new I wanted to make sure I tasted the food. Because the place was booking quickly, I held the date, gave a deposit and then put in my contract pending food tasting. they impressed me....

Thanks for the link, it really helped. Do you know what their price range is? Do they have some sort of garden area for the attendants to walk through?
