Aisle runner question

I posted on BHB, but figured you crafty ladies may know the answer:

So i'm having an aisle runner hand painted for me and it is cotton muslin material. There is no non-skid backing. I am having my ceremony on a marble floor, so I need to secure the runner to the floor and make sure no one slips. What's the best way?

Double back tape, spray adhesive, or should I glue a non-stick rug pad to the back of the runner?
