Inviting Co-workers
How many co-workers are you inviting? Your entire department?I just started a new job (6 months) and wasn't planning on inviting anyone from work. Several people have expressed interest in my wedding and appear to expect to come though.
Should I feel obligated to invite co-workers???

Re: Inviting Co-workers
Don't feel obligated. I am invited mine because I have worked with them for at least 1.5 years and more for others.Only invite who you want!

Re: Inviting Co-workers
don't feel obligated to invite them. If when it gets closer and you are closer and feel comfortable around them then think about it, but just because you work with them doesn't mean you have to invite them. I work at a small company of 6 people. I don't get along with one of them so he's not invited. Everyone else is, but I'm at my job for 9 years so I'm pretty close with the clan.

Re: Inviting Co-workers
You shouldn't feel obligated. We had to invite alot of DH's co-workers because of his position in the company. It was just expected. I invited quite a few of my co-workers as well. A few are friends, but I felt I had to invite my boss and two of his direct reports that I work very closely with.

Re: Inviting Co-workers
I work in a fairly small office (12 people) Originally I thought I would have invite 'all or none' but then I decided, it's my choice, so I am only inviting those I am closer to, it winds up being about half.

Re: Inviting Co-workers
My boss recently made a comment to me that if I invite one, I have to invite all.I am not though..I am inviting 4 even though there is only about 10 people in the department.

Re: Inviting Co-workers
don't feel obligated, but in a year you may feel differently. but its rude to expect to be invited. i work for a large company in a large dept and am only inviting about 5 co-workers. its my wedding and i'm not close to everyone so it doesn't make sense to invite them

Re: Inviting Co-workers
I'm doing the faux pas thing and only inviting some people. I'm at a new job since September and am not inviting anyone from there..honestly my guest list was already made and I don't feel especially close to anyone there. I'm inviting 7 people from my old job..I have been there for almost 5 years. I had a hard time with the ppl from my old job but had to draw the line somewhere..I invited those I am the closest with..I would feel weird inviting ppl from my new job when there's people from my other job I would want there more but don't have room for

Re: Inviting Co-workers
I am going thru the same thing, people I work with want to come, I tell them that they are welcome to the church because FH and I are paying pretty much for the whole wedding. Its just to expensive. I don't hang out with my co-workers anyway.Welcome New Vendors
