Seaking Destination Wedding advice
I am planning a small destination wedding and looking for location ideas.I am sure some of you have been to places and thought....'a wedding would be gorgeous _____!!'
Please share!
Nothing too far like Hawaii or Tahiti (that's being saved for our honeymoon), but something tropical since we want a sunset beach ceremony.
We want something romantic, not too big of a place, prefer all-inclusive, adult only is ok, since no children are attending.
Thank you so much!

Re: Seaking Destination Wedding advice
We just came back from Sandals Grande in St. Lucia and noticed a number of weddings while we were there. They were held right on the beach, usually with a steel drum band playing. It was cute-everyone on the beach stops and watches and then claps. I noticed 3 different places they used for the receptions - a pier on the bay, a gazebo and a room that overlooked the main pool area. No kids, all inclusive and I never felt like it was crowded. Very beautiful Island and perfect weather-the last time they had a hurricane was in the 80's I think.

Re: Seaking Destination Wedding advice
A wedding was planned in palm beach florida on the water by FH's cousin - they weren't having children either - the wedding never happened, b/c the bride to be learned her future husband was cheating on her with a nurse in their department three months before the wedding. Anywho - they showed us pictures of the area and we loved it! The ceremony would have been on the beach at sunset and the reception on a beachfront property!

Secrets Excellence is Mexico or DR. They are both beautiful. They are all inclusive and adults only.

I went to a wedding at the Hyatt in Dorado, Puerto Rico (30 minute from San Juan). The ceremony was on the beach - it was a lot of fun.

Re: Seaking Destination Wedding advice
Girl, you are SO smart for doing a destination wedding...FH and I spoke about that years ago and then I made the decision to have a big princess wedding. It's been nothing but heartache so first let me say kudos to you!As for destinations:
Jamaica (lots of really nice adults only places)
Aruba
St. Lucia -- I think I'm a little biased towards this one.

I think Mexico has some tough marriage requirements, but i'm not sure.
You may want to check with some of the chain resorts, I think some have weddnig packages and do everything for you.
Here are some that I know about:
www.sandals.com
www.beaches.com
www.breezes.com
www.palaceresorts.com
Also some of the LIW vendors under honeymoon might be able to help

Re: Seaking Destination Wedding advice
I found HIGHLY recommend a Secrets Resort. My fiance and I went on vaction to Secrets Riviera Maya...it was AMAZING and there was a small, beautiful wedding on the beach when we were there. One of my friends got married at the same resort before I met her and she LOVED everything. Another friend attended a Secrets wedding in Punta Cana, which she said was amazing. You can't go wrong with Secrets...the food is AWESOME and they have a ton of restaurants to choose from. Everything is all-inclusive, adults only, and I have been told that the ceremony/reception fees are very reasonable.Check out tripadvisor.com to get reviews and opinions on the resorts.

Re: Seaking Destination Wedding advice
I went to a wedding in Jamaica last April. Maybe the April before that?? Either way it was really really nice. My only complaint was that it was hottttttttttttt... but that's to be expected! It's Jamaica! I'm not too big on the heat at all.. hence me getting married in November. But some people love it!Destination weddings make for really great pics!

Actually Shanny2000.. did you notice this thread was from 2006? These people are probably long married by now. there's a warning on this thread. i did this when I was new too.. when you do searches for things.. pay attention to the dates.. doing searches can be very useful but you dont want to drag out and answer these super old posts.
I even responded and didnt notice it was sooo old!
