New girl here

Hello...hello. I guess I am not exactly new seeing as I posted a few days ago in the BHB section. But I wanted to post in this section since I'm apart of this crew now!!

I am really clueless as what to do. I know I have to book a venue and I have researched many places. But I don't know what I want. I'm in philadelphia now...so I'm really just going by pictures.
Well I do know that it will be at least 135 guests...and it could even go up to 160 . I would really like to stick to $75 a plate deal and not go over $100 (total) per person. I also know that I would love a colorful event...nothing elegant or sophisticated. I'm trying to find a reception hall that is kind of plain with hardwood floors or something similar. Nothing overly romantic.
Oh..and I am looking for a date in early June, late September or early October.

And may I ask what you all think about buffets? My mom is all for it...but my sister in law thinks differently.

What area of LI you looking for?
I did my planning from NJ, so its annoying but not that hard! Nice weekend trips out to LI.!!!
Theres a few threads with pricing on it , shorty mcbride will bump im sure I swear she has them on her desktop! haha

I am paying 69 a plate at a nice one wedding at a time timber point country club (www.lessing.com/timber.html) i think is the site.. all the lessings facilities are great and pretty good prices...

well the only family i have in long island live in Levittown and Commack. I will be at my sister in laws house, Commack, the day of. FH's family is from southern CT so I would just have to find hotels anywhere near the reception. I am thinking anywhere actually. Not too out east...I don't want over an hour drive from Commack. I am going to check out Timber Point...thank you.
