Re: engagement Dinner!
We waited 5 months! I think that was too long. I ended up sending out the save the dates a few months after the engagement party invites.

Engaged May 19th... Engagement Party August 7th (we used Save the Date Magnets ($1 each from favorlady.com) as part of our Engagement Party favors.)

Re: engagement Dinner!
We were engaged 1/8/03 but his parents didn't know until apirl of 05. They weren't happy about it being a secret from them, so we threw an engagement party june of 2005 to keep the peace. Its really whenever you want it. I wanted to do a BBQ at a park that has strong ties to my family. So I planned it for the early summer, a yr before the wedding. Being that our wedding is October having an E-party the same yr in June would just be over whelming.I would recomend it any where from a little more than a yr too six months before your wedding.

Re: engagement Dinner!
4 months for us...it was because the place was booked (busy time of year) & we agreed it was better to wait till summer. It gave us something to look forward to also.

Re: engagement Dinner!
It will be about 6 months for us. I wanted it in April/May - but I would rather wait for my sister to be down on LI for it (she is in the process of moving back from Rochester in June)
