who do i invite from work???? please help!!!!

who do i invite from work???? please help!!!!
i have been at my job for only 7 months, but know i still have to invite people from work, who do i invite? i am a manager, do i invite people on my same level, my boss, and the owner? i am cnot very close on a pesonal level with anyone yet, is it going to be awkward to ask them to come? i am real nervous to ask them, do they think i am inviting them cause i have to?

that's tricky if you arent close with anyone. as a rule, i think you just automatically have to invite at least your boss out of respect.i have to invite everyone on my 'team' at work so I ended up having to invite 14 plus their husbands and wives so i will end up with about 20-25 just from work. i am VERY close with about 10 of them but i didn't want to be rude and just leave out the other 4. hopefully they'll be busy that night!

I am a psychology intern. I ran into the same problem b/c the internship started this September and goes through next August. There are a total of 8 interns in my year, but I didn't have the space for everyone and their significant others, so I just invited the two that work in my clinic with me and their husbands. I was in the same situation at Engagement Party time, and ended up inviting everyone. After working there a little longer, I can't STAND a few of them from another department. They didn't even rsvp to my engagement party.. I had to hound them to ask them if they were coming a week before the e-party, and they said no. So, I really have NO qualms about NOT inviting them to my wedding. But I did the same thing... inviting the few extra people to 'not' leave them out. I think you can invite who you want to. I would definitely invite someone who you like who your boss knows so you can seat them together so they both have fun. Then just invite the ones you've grown close to. Everyone knows there are guest list limits for weddings, so no one should take THAT much offense after just knowing them for 7 months.

If you're not close with anyone yet, I would just stick with inviting your boss.I work in an office w/40 people, (we have two other offices with an additional 45 people total) and a unit with 10. Of the ten people in my unit, besides my immediate supervisor I am inviting ONE. Of the remaining 40 people in MY office I am inviting 3, and I'm not including anyone else from the other offices. I've been at this job for 7 years, and have been union president for almost 6.

Difficult decision....I feel your pain. I have been with the same company for 7 years, my problem is that everyone wants to be invited, i would love to have them all, but dont have room. I am afraid of insulting people if they arent invited, but what can you do????

I definitely think this is a very hard decision for everyone! I would say that you should definitely invite your boss and anyone else that you are very close with.By the time the wedding comes around, I will have been working at my office for a year and a 1/2 and I decided to invite everyone. We are a very close office (even though I do not talk to everyone on a personal and friends kind of level, I am still very friendly with everyone - we ALL get along so well) and I would not feel right just inviting 1/2 the people (the one's that I am really close with) and leaving the other 1/2 out. I am hoping that the one's that I am not close with decide not to come (I am getting married on a holiday weekend so I am hoping that works to my advantage), but I am not going to be the one not to invite them.

I would put a memo out telling everyone that your getting married at this church and it they wanna wish you well at your ceremony they can come and watch it. But your only inviting a few friends and family to a very small reception, then invite the people YOU feel closes with at work and tell them to keep their invite to themselves. Weddings are expensive, they can't expect you to invite EVERYONE.

Don't feel obligated to invite anyone at your wedding. It's actually easier that way. Noone is going.Or you can invite who you want. In such case, you may start office politics. Why did she invite you and not me, etc..??
In my case, I have been working with some people in my group for at least 1.5 years. I cannot stand one of them but I have to invite her if I invite the others.
I would not invite my boss just because she is my boss.

If I am rehired for the next school year I will invite all of the preschool teachers plus the administration. So about 14 people from work plus their husbands....I would feel awkward inviting some but not others, I know a lot won't come right off the bat but I don't want to be rude to anyone.XOXOXO

FH has the same problem....he works in a law firm and there are 5 partners at his location....and his stupid secretary (ok, she's not really stupid) invited EVERYONE in the firm because they weren't even close to their minimum....so now he feels obligated...he always feels obligated....but it will depend on how the RSVPs turn out...I figure for sure we invite the partners...people will understand I think if they aren't invited. He's the youngest guy there and possibly the only GUY who's not married yet, so I'm sure they are all fine with one less event to attend this summer.

It's your day. You don't have to invite anyone from work if you don't want them there.DH invited his boss and one really nice co-worker. DH's boss was a no-gifter, although he continues to reference that he has a year.
Hello, awkward situation.I didn't invite anyone from my current job to the wedding. Everytime I have a bad situation with my managers, I think about how glad I am that I did not invite these people to my wedding.

If your not that close with anyone - I would only invite you boss if you feel you have to. It may be easier to just leave all out.I have worked at my company for 9 years and i have no clue about what to do. I am friendly with alot of people and don't know where to draw the line. THere is already like 15 that i have to invite and a few border line.

Okay, this is a hard one for me too. My FH hates my boss - he's never met her, but he feels that she really did wrong by a friend of ours and by me by putting me in an uncomforable and inappropriate situation. The situation is that FH's friend got me an interview with the company. I interviewed and waited for 'red tape' complications for 6 months to start the job. In the meantime the boss told me she was going to fire the friend, but I was absolutely not to tell. My boss takes things VERY personally and I know that if I don't invite her she will hold it against me. However, our friend is coming to our wedding and my FH doesn't even want to be in the same room with my boss. If I don't invite her do I say something to her? Especially since I will be inviting other people from work.....

I've been at my current job since May '05. I've decided to invite only the people in my department, which is 3 people including my supervisor, the HR rep and one of the secretaries, which i've became friends with. I'm not inviting any of the partners or anyone from other departments.I'm also leaving my job right before the wedding, cause i'm moving to Western Massachusetts, where my FH lives.
