NWR: Puppy problem- needed a place with more action

hi ladies,

My puppy has thrown up 4 -5 times today! It looks more like Bile (sp?) than food- What should I do? I am not in CT (where I live and it is Sunday, so I dont know how many vets are around)

Any home remedies?

Make sure he doesn't get dehydrated. Try not to worry, and try to get him to keep water down.

If he keeps throwing up, I'd look in the phone book for an emergency vet. I know there's one by me in Selden, and I used to use one in Valley Stream. FM me if you need help finding a place.

You can give him peptobismol. Like a 1/2 teaspoon and gradually give him more as time goes by. You should also cook him food, steamed chicken and white rice usually helps. If it continues go find an ER vet right away. He might have gotten into something.

Could he have eaten a penny by chance?? Sarge ate a penny in December and threw up about 5 times, and when I brought him to the vet it turned out he had zinc poisoning. Is he doing any better now??

Thats why if the problem persists you should definetly bring him to the vet but normally try to treat it first. These vets charge an arm and a leg. You should do the home remedies and if it keeps happening, he/she has to go to vet!

How is he today???

Rice always helps - add some boiled chicken if he can handle it.

Poor puppy!!!

I second rice! This is what we were told when Max got a little sick...he was throwing up, shaking and everything...I was so scared since he was little (about 3 months)...it ended up being gas...maybe you should change the food that you're feeding him...but for now definitely give him some home cooked rice and maybe try mixing it in with the new food. HTH
