Let's go way back-How many of you knew you were getting proposed to & how?

I knew it was coming, but had no idea when.

FH opended up his own Pizzeria in Nov. (was his goal before we got engaged) & 2 months later - BAMM!!!

He did it there & even named the place after me Bari's Pizza

Well...I knew it was coming b/c we booked our reception before we were engaged! But he totally surprised me the day he did it~I had no clue it was going to be that day!

I had a feeling - FH was acting weird, asking me my ring size and talking about weddings wayyy too much right before it happened. sometimes i wish i would have been caught more off guard but in the end all that matters is that he asked, i said yes and now we're getting married

I had absolutely no idea! I thought I was planning a surprise 25th B-day for him, meanwhile he wanted everyone there so he purpose to me.

i had no friggen clue..he proposed on the actual day we booked the reception hall.. i was totally clueless

I had no idea! I mean, we had been dating for 5 years and living together for 1 so I knew that it would come eventually, but I didn't know that he had actually bought a ring.

We had talked about it, but as for the day he did it, I had absolutely no clue. He really shocked the heck out of me. I was expecting it maybe around Christmas. He proposed in September.

i knew we were going to get married one day...but didnt know he was proposing then...i had been waiting long enough

We totally talked about it and I knew it was going to happen in about a month or two (it was around the holidays)... in fact, we booked our wedding date at the church before he proposed!!! But, the actual proposal... I was COMPLETELY surprised with everything... the ring, the location, the way he did it, etc. It was great!!!

I was with my FH on my vacation when he suggested we look for an engagement ring. He bought it but didn't give it to me. I knew he obviously was going to proposed but didn't know when and I was hoping he wouldn't drag it out. The day after our vacation, I came over to visit him because he was sick, and he proposed then. I was so glad he didn't wait.

Well I don't have a ring yet, but we have booked the hall and church and are in the process of booking a dj so I know it is coming soon. I actually went shopping for rings with my mom and emailed a pic of what I like to FH. So now it is all up to him!

I knew it was coming but I didn't know when. I thought maybe in September when it was going to be our 4 year anniversary. My sisters thought maybe in December for Christmas. So it was a nice surprise when he did on vacation in August.

I knew, cause he asked my parents for their blessing about a month before, and he said I know you want to start so go ahead and start. But we didn't really tell anyone including his parents until after he actually asked me. However, the day he asked he did suprise me cause I had the feeling he was going to do it but he didn't until I was getting into a cab to go home. So it was a bit of a suprise.

I been with FH for 8 years it was time.....lol but he always said when i finished grad school I graduated in May and in June I was engaged.

LOOOOONNNNGGGGG story, but...... since you asked

He had gotten his mothers engagement ring (she stopped wearing it) from her four months before he actually proposed. When he had first gotten it, he had put the jewelry box in his jacket pocket to bring home. As we were leaving, he asked me to start his car so I went in his jacket for his keys, but found the box instead! I quickly rezipped the jacket thinking I was on candid camera or something!!!! I was yapping about really dumb things all the way home all the while wondering when he was going to do it!!! He waited four months! The whole time I would frisk his jackets anytime we went out to eat. I would hold the box in my hand when he wasn't home, dying to open it (many people can't believe that I never opened it, but I really really didn't!). I found out later that he had it with him several times, but each moment wasn't what he wanted. He finally decided to propose at our favorite restaurant Waterzooie in Garden City. We went there for dinner, but because of Memeorial Day weekend, they were short staffed for the usually slow holiday weekend. They actually ran out of things. Dinner was good, but not great, so we went home again..... this time I was ticked. I went home and straight to bed! The next morning I figured I would give him some props to go with..... so I told him about this dream that I had about how he had asked me to marry him and I was horrified because the ring was huge (walnut size huge). I kept going on and on and decided I wasn't going to get out of that bed until he caved in. I had to use the rest room, so after, I hurried back and jumped in bed. He was moving around the bedroom, then knelt next to the bed, talking to me, teasing me. He finally crawled back in bed and started talking again about my dream. He reached behind him and pulled out the box and said well I hope this isn't what you dreamt about and opened the box and I started bawling like a baby and hugged him and kissed him. I took the box and was looking at it (no it wasn't walnut huge-thank god!). He chuckled and said well are you going to put it on? I said no!!!!! you're supposed to do that! So he did and asked me to marry him. So in the end......
We got engaged on May 30. 2005 in bed, but don't tell my mom that, cause I told her that he asked me at dinner!

I had absolutely NO IDEA.. Just thinking about it all makes me tear up all over again. I can't believe its been over a year already... I am so freakin sentimental and sappy tonight.. gotta love PMS and being emotional

FI asked me on my last day of student teaching for the semester.. I was crying all day because i was leaving my students, especially my 1 on 1 i took under my wing.. I went to his house believing we were going to his uncle's house and walked in to candles, a bouquet of daisies (he never ever EVER gives me flowers), a build a bear with a yankees tshirt on, pictures of us from when we were dating all spread out on his living room floor.. at that point i thought i was going to vomit i was so shocked.. and he was nowhere to be found.. finally through my tears i begged him to come out, so he came out of his room.. i dont remember what happened after that, i dont remember what he said to me, all i remember is collapsing onto the floor and he had to force me to stand up so he could propose.. i was a snotty, dribbly, mess.. then he mentioned something about wishing my mom was there to see it and i lost it again.. he had me so shocked, he kept saying we couldnt get engaged until after i graduated (may 05)... but we got engaged 12-10-04!! He did such a great job i i was so proud of him! i didnt even know he had gotten the ring, or asked for my fathers blessing months in advance!

Well, I picked out the ring, so I knew that.

In theory, I didn't know the exact day he'd be proposing. But my FH hates going into the city, and knows I love it. So when he suggested going to the city, I knew it was coming. He tried to throw me off by taking me all over the city- first to the Central Park Zoo, then ice skating at Rockefeller Center, then dinner in Little Italy, then to the top of the Empire State Building where he finally proposed.
