Tipping questions
If I am paying 18% 'service fee' does that mean that the tip is included?Do I still tip the maitre d'?
I am confused.
And what about a band (8 piece), do I tip them and how much?
I have been reading up on tipping but I am still confused.
After all that I am shelling out I don't was to tip someone just for doing their job.
I am a teacher and NO one tips me and I don't expect to be tipped. I am doing my JOB

Re: Tipping questions
I'm confused about tipping also...When I booked my hall, the manager told me that the maitre d tip was included in my price..therefore, I will not give a maitre d a tip..

Re: Tipping questions
I think my contract mentioned something about tipping the MaitreD on my own. I read somewhere that $2-3 per person should go to the Maitre D if you decide to tip.I've been trying to make up a list of people to tip the day of the wedding. Here's who I have so far:
Hair person
Makeup person
Flower delivery person
Limo Driver
Photograhers/Vidographer
DJ and assistant
Maitre D
Bridal Attendant
I'm sure this list will grow (I hope not a lot though!)

Re: Tipping questions
How much to tip is becoming a very 'heated' topic with us (and our parents). We also have a service charge included in our contract, which I understood as being the tip for the staff.
We were told a tip for the Maitre D is up to us. Is $2 per guest reasonable?
Bridal Attendant? What do they do? I basically have 3 moms, 4 bridesmaids and a whole staff at the catering hall to help me.
The limo contract includes gratuity. I'm not going to tip on top of a 20% tip.
Makeup/Hair - If these people do this as a side job and they are not associated with a salon, then do I still have to tip them?
Tipping is very confusing and gets completely out of hand!

Re: Tipping questions
I have nooooo clue about tipping!!!! My sister is the queen of CHEAP!! She said well do you plan on getting married again they will never see you who cares!!!! My mom works once in a while at a catering hall and says you have to tip extra! She hates those people who don't and gets all pissed off!!!! She thinks the Maitre'd gets too much money usually so she says it's important to tip the lower level people who you know don't take everyone for their money like her!

Re: Tipping questions
That tipping usually doesn't include the captain the maitre'd or bridal attendent.
