1st Fitting tonight

I go for my first dress fitting tonight. While I'm excited, I'm also a little nervous. They ordered my dress in a size 14. At the time my measurements were taken, I was 129 lbs. Now I lost a few pounds, and weigh 125-126. I'm 5'2'. I thought it sounded weird to order me a 14 then, so I'm even more concerned now. I usually wear a size 6, although all my friends who are size 6 ordered size 10 dresses.

Re: 1st Fitting tonight

You only lost a few pounds, I don't think it's going to make a difference. You can't go by what you normally wear when talking about bridal gowns. I normally wear a size 4 and they ordered me an 8. The measurements are different for gowns than they are for street clothes.

Just relax and have a good time tonight!!

Yeah, gowns are sized differently than street cloths and differ from designer to designer. The place your ordered your dress from should have used a size chart and ordered the size according to your measurements for the designer. I'm sure it will be fine.

Good luck !!!!!

Re: 1st Fitting tonight

Because I'm so short, 3-5 lbs can make a difference as to whether I fit in a size 4 or size 6. Being a size 4 and ordering a size 8 gown correlates to my size 6 friends who had size 10 gowns made. I don't want to sound petty, but I'm going to be irate if this gown is swimming on me tonight, as I told them more than once that the 12 fit me fine.

By the way, the reason they recommended the 14 is because I have a freakish looking body, where my chest is disproportionately too large for the rest of me. This does the 'rest of me' no favors.
