I also need a Father/Daughter dance song...
The difference is that I don't have the kind of relationship that everyone else seems to have with their father. My father and I get along really good now, but growing up, it was hell. I can't see us using Because you loved me, or Through the years, we barely talked through the years. Anyway, can anyone suggest a song that doesn't specifically say anything about the past? That's something I don't like to remember. I hate to say stuff like this but how can I dance a song with my dad to songs like that when I and everyone else knows it's not true. Thanks so much!

Here are some ideas
You can use an instrumental, that helps with the word problem I am using Grow Men Don't Cry by Tim McGraw. I also, refuse to dance to a song that says my Daddy has always been wonderful and loving because he has not.I could never use Butterfly Kisses or a song like that so I picked a current song, not too sappy but had a pretty ending. Plus my Dad will cry so I thought it would fit perfectly.

Maybe one of these will work...
I had a similar situation. I danced with my stepdad b/c my real dad is not really a part of my life, and didn't come to the wedding. It was really important to me that the song be appropriate b/c while I do love my stepdad, we don't have years and years of history in each other's lives. We used 'I Hope You Dance' by Leeann Womack. It is an inspirational song with very pretty words, but it focuses more on a parent wishing a child well in their life, rather than reflecting on years past or the meaning of the relationship. Other more 'general' songs ideas: 'What a Wonderful World' Louie Armstrong 'As Time Goes By' various artists, but it's the theme from Casablanca 'I wish you Love' various artists 'To Sir With Love' LuLu Hope this helps!
