Westbury Manor or Giorgios

I need HELP- I can't decide between WM or Giorgios for November 2007. FH loves WM - I am just concerned with the size of the cocktail hour rooms - The library & conservatory - I don't see how those rooms can accomodate over 150 people. But I do love the Manor Room - Giorgios I like both the Cocktail Hour Room and reception room. HHHHHHHEEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPP
feedback from anyone???? I also think Giorgios offers way more food at the cocktail hour. BUT I do really love WM - they are two totally different places......

Re: Westbury Manor or Giorgios

It sounds like you two are torn.

They are both great venues, you won't be disappointed at either one!

I'd compare what they are giving you and the prices and decide from there.

Re: Westbury Manor or Giorgios

I have never been to Giorgio's, but as a WM bride myself, I just have to say that the WM grounds are AMAZING...you never know what kind of weather you might end up with in November, and if your CH is at a decent time, you might luck out and have it outside! I know there were a few November days that were very mild....good luck with whatever you choose!

Re: Westbury Manor or Giorgios

I love both these halls. Giorgios - my friend got married there and it was beautiful. I think the beach is right there and the hall is so beautiful on the golf course and everything. If you live & your family live in suffolk - I'd go w/ Giorgios. If you live in Nassau county and have family & friends in NYC/Westchester and LI it might be better to have it there. I love both places the same, I hear you...

WM can definitely accomodate 150. Gabriella had 265 guests at WM.

Also, I think you are mistaken about the amount of food. Scotto halls offer a TON of food with the basic package - like 10 - 12 passed hors douvres, 10 hot stations, fruit display, cheese display, antipasto & a couple other stations in addition to the appetizer, salad & 7 entree choice dinner plus a dessert to accompany the wedding cake.

Giorgio's has an extensive menu (and you can add sushi if you like) but I do not think they offer more than Scotto halls.

We loved Giorgio's but it's 2 hours from us. it took us 2 hours when we went to visit and that was with minimal traffic. We agreed that it was too far out to ask people to travel especially since very few of our guests live in Long Island. Not to mention, it was really far out for us too for little things like going to take photos for the florist, going to drop off payments, going to drop off ceremony items etc.

If it's closer for you and your guests, that may play a role in your decision

Re: Westbury Manor or Giorgios

Things to consider:

1 - where are most of your guests coming from - Nassau or Suffolk or OOT.

2 - does it matter to you if another bride is having her reception at the same time? (Giorgios is one bride at a time, WM is not)

3 - did you have a food tasting at both locations? if not, you should insist on one before making a final decision. You wouldn't buy a car without test driving it would you? Reception halls should be no different - taste the food.

4 - if you're having your ceremony at the hall, what is the charge? Do you have the option of outdoors if the weather is beautiful?

5 - Price. What exactly are you getting. Create a spreadsheet. List the number of passed hor d'ouvers, the number of stations at CH, (and for the stations, list what you're getting - is it a choice of two carvings at one station, or does that count as two stations, for a pasta station, how many sauces and types of pasta) list the number of entree choices for dinner (and find out if the price will change if you eliminate some), what about liquor? Is it open bar for the entire 5 hours? Is it top shelf liquor? What about dessert. Is it just wedding cake? How much extra for vienesse (mini or full)? What about other extras, like candy bar, chocolate fountain, seafood boat, or other CH upgrades

HTH!!!

Re: Westbury Manor or Giorgios

I heavily recommend WM. My brother had his reception there. There was plenty of room and tons of food. His MIL is very critical of most food and even she was really pleased with it. Good Luck!

Re: Westbury Manor or Giorgios

I am biased of course, but GIORGIOS!! We still have not heard one tiny negative thing about them. They are all so wonderful there, and George Jr and Sr (and Jola!) will do everything in their power to make sure your wedding is so perfect. The food is amazing, the scenery is beautiful...but the decision is yours..I dont want to pressure you but............. ;>) Ok, sorry..no pressure, but I just think they are the best! Maybe make a trip back to each one, and see which one hits you the most!! Good luck!!

I AGREE!!! While I am biased, I think that Giorgio's is amazing! I've been to WM and the place was beautiful also! It's a hard decision. You have to consider where your guests will be coming from and the price of each hall. The benefit of Giorgio's is that you have the beach, the garden, and the gold course for pics. So awesome!!!! I've NEVEr heard a negative thing said about them!!!
