Re: Is it ok for a second time bride to wear a white dress??
The white signifies purity (virgin). I am sure that 95% (or more) of the ladies that get married these days are not virgins. So that means they shouldn't wear white either???? Some people and their 'rules'. I say if you want to wear white do it!!!

If we all respected the real white tradition, most people would wear ivory. Don't you think? Let's not be a bunch of hypocriticsIt's my second marriage, I am only wearing ivory because I am very pale and white washes me out.
You can wear whatever you want.

Re: Is it ok for a second time bride to wear a white dress??
Actually, the tradition of wearing white is an expression of wealth, not purity. Why? Because a white gown is completely impractical!!!!! It can never be worn again (as we are all too painfully aware of). So wearing white means you have enough money to spend on a dress that you'll never wear again.

It's still your special day, second time around or whatever . . . if it makes you happy you should totally go for it.I went to my friend's wedding, her second marriage, and she wore a white gown - no one even gave it a second thought!

Wearing white was supposed to be that you are still a virgin. Honestly, for all girls getting married the first time, how many wearing white does this really apply to? LOL I think its ok for you to wear white. It ,in my opinion, is 100% ok for you to wear white on your second marriage.

Times had change now. Now you can wear anything you want. It is not like it used to be, if it was I would never be able to pay for the wedding myself.Go For It!!!

Re: Is it ok for a second time bride to wear a white dress??
of course you can wear white!I get so tired of people thinking this... white was never meant to stand for purity on a wedding dress. It's a trend that was started by Queen Victoria, who wore a white wedding dress as a sign of how wealthy she was, and people started copying her.
Before that people just wore whatever dress was their most formal... only the very richest people even went out and bought a dress just for their wedding to never be worn again.
So sure, wear whatever you want! there's nothing to be offended about... in this day and age hardly anybody is a virgin when they get married anyway.

Re: Is it ok for a second time bride to wear a white dress??
You should do whatever you want.I've talked about this with some friends who have said that their second marriage was really the one in which they felt most like a bride, the one that meant a lot, the one in which they understood more about the meaning of life and marriage. They felt that dressing as a traditional bride was a big part of it.
I think that it is a matter of your own preference. If I were married before, I don't think I would wear white. However, I am not in that situation and I'm not sure if I can even say that 100 percent. Also, I would have nothing to say about someone who wanted to wear white.
I have a friend who had a baby before she was married and she is wearing champagne. Champagne is usually just a little darker than ivory. I like that idea.
I just wanted to give you some thoughts but I say to do whatever you please!!!

Re: Is it ok for a second time bride to wear a white dress??
It's the 2nd one for a few of us.I know now things I did not know when I was younger. I wish things were different, that I had met FH years ago.
I cannot undo 1st marriage and wearing white is not going to 'erase' anything.
BUT It's your day! Do not worry about those stupid traditions. You want to be radiant, beautiful for you and for your FH. If the dress that caught your eye in the store, the dress of your dream is white then white it is.

Re: Is it ok for a second time bride to wear a white dress??
this is almost like this other topic another person brought up. the topic was on de-virginized brides-to-be and white dresses as a big NO-NO. the woman who's getting married had a conversation with a co-worker, i believe, and the co-worker was appalled by her even thinking of wearing white.IMO, both co-worker and your friend are living in a completely different world to say the least.
wear whatever you want.
