Any Interesting Wedding Disaster Stories??

Not that I would ever wish any type of wedding disaster or just odd things that happen at weddings on anyone but they are pretty funny!! ...as long as they don't happen to you!!!

Once, at my cousin's wedding, a BAT got into the main room just as everyone was saying their goodbyes and all the women started screaming while it was flying around and swooping down at their heads!! LOL

I also went to another wedding where the entire place lost power--right during their first dance!! for like fifteen minutes.

ANYONE HAVE ANY GOOD STORIES/ EXPERIENCES??? I think we could all use a good laugh and a general prayer that these things don't happen to us!!

Re: Any Interesting Wedding Disaster Stories??

I ended up NOT being a disaster because someone was able to save the day.

But the hair vendor I hired to do my hair on my wedding day never showed up without even as much as a phone call!

Re: Any Interesting Wedding Disaster Stories??

Ummm, well, I almost freaked on my dad just minutes before the ceremony.

I was all cool, calm and collected, everything was flowing smoothly. I got my dress on, which none of my BMs had seen because I wanted it to be a surprise. Then Dad came in to see me, he hadn't seen my dress either. As he went to put his arm around me.......a drop of blood fell from his finger ONTO MY DRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't flip, I didn't breathe as a gasp went through the room.

Thankfully it came out and was on the back anyway, but it was TENSE!

BTW-Dad pricked his finger with the pin from his corsage and felt he didn't need a band-aid!!!!

Re: Any Interesting Wedding Disaster Stories??

Well, my parents have a pretty interesting story - here's the short version:

My dad's dad was a baker. He made their cake. My mom had to carry it on her lap from the Bronx to Rockland Countly where they were having the wedding.
My mom got her hair done and hated it, so she had to pull the whole thing out.
They got to where the wedding was being held and waited for the Rabbi to get there. And waited. And waited. And waited. Finally they called him and it turns out he thought the wedding was the following week. They were lucky he was home when they called. So the ceremony started over 2 hours late.
Because everything started so late, all the drinks were gone (they had it at someone's house) so after the ceremony, my dad had to go to the store to buy more soda.
They went on their honeymoon to Niagra Falls, and when they got to the hotel, they didn't have their reservation, and there were no more rooms left in the hotel. They had to drive around to hotels to find an open room.

Yet, despite all these wedding disasters, they are still happily married over 30 years later. Just goes to show you that it really just is a party. Don't put everything onto that one day.

AWWW CUTE STORY!!!
unbelievable what happened to them!! they had bad luck that day--- i went to my other cousin's wedding in washington state and her husband owned an old car he wanted them to drive away in... so on the way to their hotel from the reception they drove it and it broke down!! it was just her and him at this point... so they had to walk over a mile and a half (in her dress) to the hotel on like a small highway!!! ahh the age before cell phones lol!!!

Re: Any Interesting Wedding Disaster Stories??

The first time I got married was a disaster in itself. I really think I should have paid attention to everthing as I think was a sign as to what was going to come of my marraige...

To start off I got my wedding dress and the bridesmaids dresses in PA. Big mistake. My dress was fine but I found out 6 weeks before the wedding that the bridesmaids dresses were never ordered. With a little bit of elbow grease we solved that problem.

The day of the wedding was a day that for some still big unknown reason the phone system in Suffolk County went down for 6 hours. Nobody could get through on cellphones b/c evryone was on them. Ok..got throught that.

Then I used a wedding center that Ive seen on here that ruined my day with every service we purchased from them.( If anyone is interested in who you can FM me.)

I had a 15 person BP...They sent 2 six passenger limos with 1 bottle of champagne to share. We had to pick up the tuxes that day and my Hubbies tux was way too short. Thank God for cutaway bottoms on the jacket!!! The photographer got none of the coordinated shots and then disappeared from my reception for 3 hours. The flowers were all the wrong colors. What was worse was my mother passed away 1 month before the wedding and THEY KNEW THIS and sent me a MOB corsage anyway.

Needless to say it was acrazy day and I will not be using that vendor this time around!!!

How's that for disaster??

OMG- I went to my cousins wedding where they lost power, first off the bride's family was from Indiana and on the way from the church which was in Astoria to the reception hall in Rosyln on a friday evening during rush hour her car broke down and the bride did not want to have her first dance without her mom.. once the mom got there the power went out..no dj nothing.. it was so sad, but oddly enough one of her aunts from indiana had an accoridian in her car.. and played the whole night.. it was hysterical (everybody trying to make the best out of it was singing and dancing).. .... in the end it was fun... but I still felt horrible for them..

Re: Any Interesting Wedding Disaster Stories??

Not me but a friend of mine got married right after Hurricane Isabel hit in VA...his hall didn't have power and was working on generator, etc but it wasn't certain that they could get it SO theymoved the wedding to another site the day before and had to call everyone...power came back at their first site but by this time everyone knew the new site so they didn't change it....wedding was wonderful so it all worked out!!

Re: Any Interesting Wedding Disaster Stories??

Because my reception site failed us in 100 different ways, we had mini disasters from the time the reception started to the very end.

Nothing compared though to my mother falling and shattering her shoulder during our Mother/Daughter dance. She was able to stay long enough for us to cut the cake but than had to go to the hospital. It was heartbreaking but we try and joke about it now.
