Is Filene's Basement Bridal Gown Sale Worth It?

Just received an email, as I'm sure many of you did also, that this event is being held next Fri 3/3. Has anyone been to this? Is it worth taking off of work for it? I wouldn't be going when they opened because that's just too crazy for me, but they said that going around noon time is a lot calmer and there is still a lot left. Any tips? TIA!

I know exactly what Friends episode you are talking about and I thought of the same thing when I opened the email. That's part of the reason why I don't want to go as soon as they open!

I'm wondering the same thing. . .the way those ladies charge, scrap, fight and run you would think they are getting the deal of a lifetime!

Well, according to the website, gowns that would normally sell for $800 to $9000 get dramatically reduced to $250 to $500.

The one in DC is definitely worth going to, but I don't know about the one in NY. A bunch of girls on the DC boards got their dresses in the sale and they were only $250. They said that if you go around 2 or3 there were still plenty of dresses left, but there weren't any more crazy people elbowing you.

Again, this is just what I've heard of the DC store, I'm not sure if it's the same in NY.

When my friend got engaged I went with her to the one in NYC... she wound up buying two dresses and then selling them on ebay.. some girls were buying them.. I think it is to confusing...

don't do it.
I know that you can find a gown for under $200, but I am telling you that it is NOT worth it. The experience is so miserable that even if you find the gown of your dreams, you will resent it b/c you will leave this thing being trampled, injured, and with footprints on your back. It is a NIGHTMARE.
Even if you find something nice, you'll feel ugly when you wear it b/c it is such a gross e xperience.
