Mom's Wedding Dress

My mom has her wedding dress, which was a beautiful beaded original Demetrios gown that she has preserved. Unfortunately, it's not my style to wear for my own wedding. BUT, I asked her if I can use some of her dress to wrap around my bouquet. She said yes, but is now dropping little remarks about tearing apart the dress and what not. So in the end I feel bad now for asking. My question is, was it wrong of me to ask her? and didn't it sound like a nice idea to have a part of my mom's wedding gown with me on my wedding day? I don't know what to do, I feel guilty, but I know it's not like she will 1, ever fit into it again, and 2, when is she going to use it? Am I selfish for wanting to use it?

Re: Mom's Wedding Dress

I don't think you're selfish for wanting to use it. I think its a sweet jesture. I just think that your mother may have been saving the dress for you and was a little dissappointed that you weren't go to wear it. She probably understands that your tastes are different and that's pobably why she agreed to let you use a part of the dress in the first place, but now she may be having second thoughts. Does she still have the veil she wore? You might be able to use that instead. If I were you I would talk to her and find out if she's really ok with you using a piece of the dress. Good Luck

Re: Mom's Wedding Dress

If your planning on having children you can usethe rest of it for a christening gown. SHe may like that, also. If your only using a small piece for your bouquet then maybe you should see if she has the veil.
