My poor MOH..............................................

My best friend is my bridesmaid. We went dress shopping Saturday the 28 of Jan. She is a plus size girl. But she had gained some weight since the last time we saw each other. She had to pay extra for more fabric. I could tell she was embarassed. Because on the phone she kept telling me she wearing a size twelve jeans. Did this happen to any of your bridal party members?

None of my BMs are plus size, but the woman at the bridal shop did mention that for over size 12 (I think) there is an extra charge for more fabric. So I know that it does happen (this was at Charmet). Awww, to your MOH. I used to be plus size, and I know how it feels.

Yes, one of my girls needed to order a plus size but I discreetly paid the extra $$$ so none of the BMs knew it was more.

She probably does wear a 12, but in the land of Bridal Couture, this means a size 14 or 16. It ***** that they charge extra for plus sizes. I feel her pain. I lost a lot of weight in the last 2 years and I wanted to cry when I realized I was not going to have to buy a plus sized wedding dress.

I am sorry to hear she was embarrassed! I am sure your friend wil look beautiful in her dress because big girls still know how to work it!

Yes, 2 of my girls had to pay extra.

I didn't even think of this until one of my girls went to get measured and she called me after to tell me she had to pay extra.

BM dresses do run small.

I would tell her that the sizes are soooooo unreal. Maybe comapre the size of your dress with your actual size?

It didn't happen to any of my girls, but I had to pay more for my wedding gown because it is a plus sized gown. It stinks, but you want the gown to fit. And the sizes are definitely unreal. I wear size 8 pants, but the 18 fits my bustline. The important thing to remember is that no one will know the number inside the gown, but everyone will see how beautiful she looks in it.

My MOH wears a 14 pants and got a 16 dress. She didn't have to pay extra though. I guess it depends on the bridal store. We got our dresses at David's Bridal

3 of my bridesmaids had to pay extra. None of them wear plus sized clothing (probably all wear 11 or 12 normally), but the BM dresses run so small!

Yes, but she was spared s small amount of embarassment. It was my MOH, she lives in Virginia, so it was just her and I at the shop. She knew she was going to order a larger size, but she was a little bummed. She anticipated ordering extra material b/c she and her DH are trying to get pregnant. But I don't think she was anticipating ordering the largest size the dress comes in (I did tell her though that this dress' designer's sizes run an average of 2 sizes smaller than normal dresses)

One of my girls will need to pay extra. She is going alone to order the dress though, so at least she wont feel pressured by me or the other BMs

Yes, some of my BMs paid extra. It $ucks that they charge extra especially when some of the girls who have to pay more $$ don't normally wear plus size clothes.

Yes it happened to my MOH also. But I told her about the whole two sizes smaller deal with the wedding attire and she felt a little better but was unhappy to pay extra. I'm a plus size girl too so I felt her pain. But I know we are all going to look beautiful anyway!!!

Yep-I'm a 12 and had to order a 20 wedding gown!!!!

Recently I was in my friend's bridal party and the dress was a 16!

I second what some of the girls are saying. Just console her by telling her not to feel bad b/c we all know that these BM dresses as well as bridal gowns run at least two sizes smaller than your true size.

One of my bridesmaids had to order in 'Plus size' also. I guess the fact that she wasn't in 'denial' and we all had been in weddings before and knew the deal, it didn't bother her.

One of my BM is plus sized, I know she gained even more weight since august, it doesn't bother me at all. My only main concern is that she feels comfortable with herself. She is my cousin, and I don't want her to feel she won't look beautiful on FH and I big day. I told her mom that the weight issue is not a concern to me, and that I am happy to have her apart of my big day.

I hope you don't think a size 12 is plus sized. Because it is a very average size. My MOH is plus sized and had to pay I think $40 extra for her dress. But then again, I had to pay $20 extra for the dress for her wedding because it's a size 16. IT *****!!
