Veil Question - need help

My mom is making my veil for me.
My questions is: How big is your clip that is attached to your veil and what color is the clip - brown, clear?
One website said the clip should be about 4 inches and I thought that sounded pretty big...

color of my clip: white (almost clear actually).
clip size: regular size as one of those comb clips. it might be 3 inches, i don't know about it being 4 though?

mine is either on a clear or white comb i can't remember but i am pretty sure it is on a clear and has white lace over it. and not sure about the width of hte clip but i will measure later when i get home!!!
