How much are your MOB/MOG paying for dresses?
My FMIL showed me a dress from Coldwater Creek that was $99.99. I was kinda stunned, cause I thought they were much much more than that. Any input ladies?ETA If you know both, and one is cheaper, put the cheaper one. Or tell me both here

Re: How much are your MOB/MOG paying for dresses?
My mother bought an amazing dress... it was a lot of $$$ but she loved it and it looked good one her, she was having a lot of problems finding a dress...There was another dress that was less- BUT everyone she took to see it always went back to the one that was more $$$, so she bought it.She got it at Meika, but Metamorphisis has a lot too- of varying prices
HOWEVER, my FMIl did not buy her dress yet but has been looking at very inexpensive dresses... one is a local store in CT so that wont help much, but the other is David's Bridal, like 200.00.
I have not seen it yet, but I think I am going to take her to see others as well..love her, but sometimes she rushes to do things and doesnt see other options.

that is very pretty... 99.00 doesnt seem like a lot of money, but if she likes it and it looks nice, no one will know how much it is! Is that the color as well?

Re: How much are your MOB/MOG paying for dresses?
Yes, that is the color. I am just a little surprised because that seems more like a rehearsal dinner kind of dress, not mother of the groom! My mom is wearing a gown which I have no idea what it looks like, and it is in the blue family. Not ice blue, but not dark blue either. She hasn't shown it to me, but i know it is a gown.I guess the MOG dress just isn't as `dressy' as I was thinking it could be. More `every-day' like.

Re: How much are your MOB/MOG paying for dresses?
I've heard of MOBs spending anywhere from $50 to over $1000. I don't think it's about how much the dress costs but really how comfortable they are, how beautiful they feel and how appropriate the dress is for the occassion.BUT while I think that the dress is nice, I agree that it's not quite a mother of the groom dress.

Thanks ladies. Thankfully FH agrees and said we will wait a week and see what she does. Then we will bring it up.

My mom just bought her dress today - $500 (plus tax & alterations). A bit steep in my opinion. But it suits her to a tee! I'll post pics when I download them!

Re: How much are your MOB/MOG paying for dresses?
I think that it's a very beautiful dress for the MOG, it's different, not your typical dress, so I like it. And I really love the color and the price too! Don't worry about it not being fancy enough, once she has her hair and makeup done, and with the right shoes, I'm sure it will look fancy and perfect.
