Rehearsal dinner..A day or a week before?
Hi! I just wanted to get everyones views on this..We seemed to be tossed up here when to have our RD. Our bridal party consists of about half out of towners and half local family/friends. Our weddingis on a Friday night,so we were initially thinking of having the RD the night before, Thursday night. But, it seems like it would be so much more relaxed to do it, a few days before, or a week before. I just wanted to see what you ladies did, and for the ladies who had it the night before, did you feel stressed out? Was it too close to the big day? We know if we had the RD a week before the wedding, some of the OOTers may not be there, but honestly, Im sure everything would still work out fine..I figure they would still go over everything right before the wedding begins. OK, let me know what you all think! Thanks!!

I am not getting married for a little while but I always thought of having my RD the week before as well. I think it would work out well for everyone especially me. Im sure there will be a lot of last minute things to do and I would like to relax and plan it the weekend before. I will not have an OOT people but I think if they miss the rehearsal it will be fine. Good luck with your decision! Im interested to see the other replies from the more experienced gals.

I think that having you RD the night before is fine. I think that it will be beneficial to your OOT guests and any little ones in the party that have to remember their parts for the big day. It'll also give you time to relax and enjoy your wedding party with a meal and a few drinks, after all...you'll be giving most of your attention to your guests on the Big Day. Good Luck

Re: Rehearsal dinner..A day or a week before?
Can you have it on the Wednesday night before? Maybe more people will be here. We got married on a Saturday and had the rehearsal on Thursday. Honestly and this is JMO, but having the night before to relax was great, I got to, hang out with my mom and bro, get everything ready for the big day and do final last minute things. It can definitely be done, but I wanted people to relax and enjoy the RD without worrying they had to get home to be up early for the next day. Whatever you decide, it will all work out!

Re: Rehearsal dinner..A day or a week before?
I'm trying to plan mine for the Thursday before our Sunday wedding. However, half the BP is from OOT, and the other half of HIS bridal party (together with us) has a standing commitment on Thursday night, which might cause a BIG problem. If I have to, I'll move it to Friday, but there is no way I will do it on Saturday.

I am having my RD a week before.. My sister did it and it was less stressful. Plus we like to drink and I dotn want to have to end the night early because of my wedding the next day.

Re: Rehearsal dinner..A day or a week before?
We had 9 people out of the 17 in our BP that were OOT so I did it on thurs the night before the wedding. I was glad I did it that way too, for me it took the edge off too and knowing that all of us would be together again the next day was a good feeling too, then after the girls came back to my house to help decorate and my mom stayed over. I didnt sleep much- stress but I think that will happen either way. dont worry I liked having my family and friends with me the night before my wedding, we had a blast!

FH and I are getting married the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so we will be having our RD the Tuesday night before the wedding.

I'm getting married on a Friday too and I'm planning my RD for Wed. I really want the suspense to build up for when FH and I see each other again so the last time we'll be together before the wedding will be at the RD.

We are having ours the week before the wedding. I know the week of the wedding is going to be busy enough as it is. I just want to have as little to do as possible.

Re: Rehearsal dinner..A day or a week before?
IMO, I think it stinks to have it the week before. That basically says: Those of you OOT, screw you!!! But if you have no OOT people, then have it the week before. We are having it on Thursday night (we're getting married Saturday during Lent). Our guests have decided to take a 'vacation' into NYC on Friday and enjoy the day. Those that can't make it to the rehearsal two days before, doesn't really matter. How hard is it to walk down the aisle?
But, at least we gave them the option. If they were from OOT, no option if we did it a week before. Welcome New Vendors
