Bride;s maids gown, you pay or she pays?

how is everyone handling the bridesmaid gown situation. Are you paying for the dresses or are they paying for their own dresses?

Re: Bride;s maids gown, you pay or she pays?

I'm buying them. The bridal party of the last wedding I was in was moaning and groaning about the costs. I decided I wanted to avoid that.

Re: Bride;s maids gown, you pay or she pays?

Well, my Best friend paid for my gown for her wedding so I will do the same for her. Also, if my cousin is able to come from Brazil to be in my wedding I will pay for hers as well. Everyone else is on their own. But to my knnowledge it is usually the bridesmaids who pick up the tab

My bridesmaids will be paying for their own dresses...I know it sounds bad, but I have enough things to pay for, if I could afford it I would

Re: Bride;s maids gown, you pay or she pays?

In all the weddings I've been in the past, the bridesmaids have paid for their own. I'm paying for the girls dresses in my wedding as their thank you gift.

I'm buying the dress for my maid of honor because she is having some financial problems, but my BM's are paying for their own dresses.

Re: Bride;s maids gown, you pay or she pays?

My BMs are paying for their own, IMO I feel thats why you ask them and they are given the opportunity to decline if its too costly. Also they are given BM gifts in thanks for their services.

Another way I've seen it done was no BM gifts were given and the dresses were paid for by the bride

Re: Bride;s maids gown, you pay or she pays?

I every wedding I have ever been in I paid. So my two girls are paying for their own dress. Sounds nice to pay for their dresses for them but I have enough stuff to pay for. Although I have been in situations were at the last minute people complain about cost, I feel like that conversation should be taken care of when asked to be in the wedding. If you can't handle the task then decline. But it's mainly your (the brides) choice

ETA: but I will be paying for their jewlery
