Anyone gone bridesmaid dress shopping yet?

A couple of my bridesmaids really want to go look at dresses but it is sooo early. It would also make my life easier since i am possibly moving out of NY this spring...it would be nice to have it at least narrowed down if not decided before I move.

But are places going to think I am crazy for looking so early? Has anyone gone to look at dresses yet?

I went last night to go for my friends wedding in Sept. I think its too early for you, I plan to go about 9 months before. YOu want to see the new stuff ya know.

I was a bridesmaid for the FSIL a couple of year's ago. We ordered the dresses in February for a December wedding. It seemed like a reasonable amount of time. When they arrived after Thanksgiving we went for the a fitting to find out that some of us had tea length dresses and others floor length. Out of 8 bridesmaids 3 had the right dress. My thought is the sooner the better!

I'm actually going on Saturday for the first time. I'm super organized and would rather get them early and know all the girl's have them.

I'll go 1 year before, I think.

I desperately need to find a dress with 3/4 sleeves, or at least something that would look cute with a little jacket over it.

ALL of my girls are self-conscious of their arms, and want to be totally covered.

I'll go probably a year before. I'm super organized as well, but I want to get some of my payments down with my vendors, this way I don't have as much on my mind.I think I'll be fine.

Most BM dresses only take 3-5 months to order. We looked at dresses in February and the orders were placed by March. The dresses came in sometime in July. The girls had 1-2 alteration appointments. 8-9 months before is plenty of time. I wouldn't look much earlier than that.

I will probably wait till the late summer. My sister is having a baby in June and she really wants to lose some weight before we go for dresses.

i already picked out my BM dress..a couple of my girls have tried it on...i'm gonna go back with all of them (minus my MOH cuz her schedule is crazy) to see how it looks on them and then probably have them order it soon.

I have not gone yet. I probably won't go until the summer or fall when my sister is home from college. Plus, I have two cousins getting married before me that I need to go try on dresses for! But it won't hurt to look for myself when I go for them!

I am always looking to give myself an idea of what I want, but I think that you should go when you feel its good, if you want to get them now why not, the sooner you get them is one less thing to worry about, I am going in the summer for an October wedding

i think the knot recommends going 6-8 months before. I went in january for my friend's august wedding, and i think that was too much time. The dresses were in by april. I'm getting married in august and will probably go in march to make sure they have the latest styles out.
