Wedding dress prices?

All the dresses that I have seen are so expensive. I really have my heart set on wearing a strapless, silk, beaded ballgown. After a while when I hear numbers like $4, $5 and $6,000, suddenly $2,000 doesn't sound so bad, but after tax and alterations that becomes $3,000, which seems like so much. How much is everyone spending on their wedding dress (if you don't mind me asking?) Any advice on where to shop? BTW my wedding is in less than 5 months.
****************************************************************************
You guys are so great! Today 1/24, I went to a sample sale at a very expensive store where I saw a Kenneth Pool dress on sale $2,000 three weeks ago. I went back today and they gave it to me for $1,000. The retail sticker price is on it for $5950. I don't know how they did this, but the salesperson is my guardian angel. This is the dress that I wanted. They'll be done with the alterations by March 31. BTW there are some random people in the store the photos, no relationship to me. Where there's a will there's a way!

Re: Wedding dress prices?

Try RK bridal in the city. Not a frilly bridal shop, but you can't beat their prices or selection. I found my dress there (~1100) and Macy's matched their price plus gave me an extra 5% off for self-storage. If you shop around most places will match the cheapest.

Re: Wedding dress prices?

I bought my dress at Daviud's Bridal, they were having a sale, so originally it was $1000, but I paid $800. This was what I was hoping to spend.

Re: Wedding dress prices?

i'm spending about 2000.

if you have your heart set on a specific dress, shop around, and get price quotes from different stores. also, look out for trunk sales (most designers will offer some type of discount around then) or see if the bridal boutique will throw in anything or give you a discount if you also purchase your veil and headpiece from them (or if your bridesmaid dresses are ordered from them too)

Re: Wedding dress prices?

To be honest, I think you are cutting it a little close to order a dress from a salon. To be on the safe side, find a dress you love, then order it from netbride.com. You usually get it in 2-3 months and you save a ton of money....
