NWR: Wanted to share how quick a party goes!!!
Next to the wedding, the other party that we have been planning for was my dad and stepmom's 20th anniversary. I think we started planning that before the wedding - but both plans began around the summer. The party was a surprise - it was held at my stepsister's house, but it was a lot of planning. LOTS of work!!! We had a big blown up pic of them to sign, catering, white glove service, I made a scrapbook based on pics and anecdotes from their friends, and made a family section, called people who didn't RSVP on time (sound familiar?)
I mean- in many ways, it was like a small wedding!
The invite was for 6:00, parents to come at 7:00 (AND they came at 6:40!!!
Thank god everyone was at the house!!!)Before I knew it, people were saying goodbye - around 10:00.
4 hours went by like nothing - I chatted (lots of wedding questions - I have to tell you I didn't even mind this time!!!) ate a little, had a glass of wine or 2 (it was one of those parties where everytime I had a glass, I put it down and couldn't find it, so I kept having to get another - I think I drank a total of one glass through sips of 10!!!)
After it was over, I said to my parents - wow - I just realized how quickly a party goes - and I know the wedding will be the same way!!!!
Puts everything into perspective, you know??? We plan for years, and poof - thats it!

Re: NWR: Wanted to share how quick a party goes!!!
oh yeah!about 2 years before the wedding, we had a 25th anniverary party for my mom and dad.... and that went by sooo fast and my sister and i planned it for months!!
it really helped me with planning the wedding, becasue i knew how to deal with all the caterers and stuff... but also because i knew how fast a party like this can go and that it was just ONE DAY and some things weren't worth stressing out over- so it really helped me keep calm and keep things in perspective while i was planning the wedding...
BTW- glad hte party went well!

Our ceremony was at 12:30....
I find it ironic though that when we go to other weddings (and we've been to a few since ours), that it doesn't seem to go by as fast!

The day went by really quickly, especially the reception.

i couldn't believe how fast our day went by. I started to tear up when everyone was gone. I wanted to keep the party going! I wanted to dance more and mingle with my guests more.Just remember to enjoy the day! Take a minute and just relax and take it all in.

Re: NWR: Wanted to share how quick a party goes!!!
I keep thinking about how fast my Sweet 16 went, and the prom. Same kind of thing with all the planning and then it just flies by so fast. I'm going to be so sad after the wedding is over. But I just try to focus on all the good things that will come out of our marriage!

Re: NWR: Wanted to share how quick a party goes!!!
I'm giving my mom a retirement party in December at Leonards. We've booked the hall but I wanted to wait until after the wedding to complete everything else. Thanks for the input.

Re: NWR: Wanted to share how quick a party goes!!!
it seems forever to plan a wedding and the actually wedding itself last a mere couple of seconds...thats why people say just looking around, slow down and enjoy your wedding because it will go so quick
