Friday Night Weddings
Hi Girls,I am new to the website. I am newly engaged (less than a month) but we have already started looking for places. We went to the Watermill and I loved it. We are going to have to have a Friday night wedding because we can not guarantee enough people for the Saturday night.
My question is the time for Friday night is 8:00 cocktail hour reception ending at 1 am (so people don't feel rushed after work) is this too late?? Will alot of people leave the wedding early. Of course my mom mentions this to me today and has me really thinking about it. Are there any other brides doing a late Friday night wedding?
Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you very much.
P.S. I was reading the review about the Woodlands is there a website for it. Is it in Long Island. It sounds very interesting to me. Thanks.

Re: Friday Night Weddings
It's a Friday night people are usually off on Saturday so they can party the night away. I wouldn't worry about 1 am if they are having a good time they won't be in a rush anywhere.

Re: Friday Night Weddings
I am having a friday night wedding and the ceremony starts at 6pm, CH starts at 8:30pm and ends at 1:30am. This was a concern of mine too, but when I asked family and friends (that would be attending) what they thought they all said that they would definitely stay out and party. The people with young kids will probably leave early, like 10 or 11, but not too many coming have kids so I'm not too concerned about it.

Re: Friday Night Weddings
My wedding ended at 1:30 and we only had one couple leave a little early and that's because they had a wedding the next day up-state. go for it.ETA: We partied at the hotel afterwards to
about 3am. I wouldn't worry.

Re: Friday Night Weddings
We are getting married at the Watermill also and in the same room on a Friday. We were concerned about the same thing.. Then we thought, your family, close friends, and bridal party will stay no matter what... so we are not worrying anymore.

Re: Friday Night Weddings
I am having a friday night wedding as well. My cocktail hour starts at 8:15pm and the reception ends at 1:15am. My brother also got married on a Friday night and the guests pretty much stayed almost thru the end. I look at it this way, they have Sat. and Sunday to recover from it. I think it is great for people who have to work that Friday.

Re: Friday Night Weddings
I think it's fine. People that would stay late on a Saturday will also stay late on a Friday. There are those that will leave early but they would no matter what day you get married. I love Friday night weddings you then have 2 days to recoup!

Re: Friday Night Weddings
I am at Fox Hollow, Fri night from 8-1 .....I booked my church for a 5pm ceremony. I don't think its late at all! I think it gives people enough time to get home from work, change, and get to the wedding on time! (And for those that have little kids, they can get the kids to sleep before they leave the house!)

Re: Friday Night Weddings
i have no problem with firday nite weddings, i love them. my best friend had hers on a friday nite and we had such a ball there. we partied at the hotel with her family that were over from england and ireland until 4 am.i think you have to answer this question: what is the age range of most of your guests? are they older people, younger or middle aged. i have a lot of older people in my family, so i couldnt do that, but that is my situation.

Hi knm1204 you're my date twin! We're starting our ceremony at 7pm because we wanted to give people enough time to leave work and make it to the ceremony on time. It won't end until 1am, but I'm sure all of our friends will stay til the end.

Re: Friday Night Weddings
My brother got married in July at the watermill. They too had the CH start at 8 and reception at 9. I was tired because it was a long day, but well worth it and everyone partied all night long. Give people alcohol and they will dol anything!
