Who is doing shuttles for guests??
Hi - Is anyone providing shuttle services for guests to & from a local hotel?? I am concerned about people not having a good time if they need to be a designated driver. Also thought it would be convenient for out of town guests. But, it's a pain to organize (coordinating pickup from hotel, to church, to reception and back). The hotel where I have blocked off rooms does not offer free shuttle service. Just curious who is doing this and who is not bothering. Thanks

Re: Who is doing shuttles for guests??
My reception hall has a deal with the Holiday Inn Express to provide shuttle service for OOT guests staying there...we are definitely taking advantage of it!

We are still deciding the price quote was aprox $840.00 for a 28 person shuttle they told us we have to keep the shuttle all day. I am still looking around but that is the going rate so far

Re: Who is doing shuttles for guests??
i'm not doing it. it's an added expense that i've never had at all the weddings i've been to. if it was free, i'd go for it, but i can't justify an extra $1000.

Re: Who is doing shuttles for guests??
Did anyone check with their reception halls to see if they have an arrangement with a local hotel? As my post above says, I know Holiday Inn Express does it with Thatched Cottage, so maybe that or other Holiday Inns do it with other catering halls. It's worth checking into to save the $$

Re: Who is doing shuttles for guests??
We are only having a handful of OOT guests staying at the hotel (many are staying with relatives, etc) - and most are my aunts/uncles who realy do not drink - so if I got a shuttle it would be for like 6 people, not worth the $$$$.

This was the case for me also... I didn't do it, and no one complained!

I think I'll be having around 25-35 out of town guests, + my immediate family is from Westchester and will be staying overnight in the hotel....So will my fiance and I.

Re: Who is doing shuttles for guests??
I was going to suggest having other family or friends doing you a favor and take them to/from the wedding. If there was only a few. That is what I am doing. There are only like 3 OOT guests.

Re: Who is doing shuttles for guests??
I don't think we will be getting them although I haven't even looked into it or anything. We shouldn't have too many OOT guests.

Re: Who is doing shuttles for guests??
We had a shuttle to/from the hotel to our ceremony/reception (both were at Glen Island). We just put a card in with our OOT bags letting people know when the shuttle would pick them up and when it would bring them back.If you have a church and then reception, maybe you could just have the shuttle leave from the hotel - if it's close to the church. People can run back after the ceremony, freshen up,and get the bus to your reception.
ETA: we had 2 pick-up times at the hotel (an early one for family/friends who needed to be in pictures and a later one for regular guests) and 2 departure times - one right after the cake cutting and one for the real end of the night.

I am going to look into this eventually- but I am also going to look into group discounts with a car rental place.
