Best Place to have Ceremony & Reception?

I'm newly engaged & looking for a place to book the ceremony & reception. Just wanted to hear for some of you lovely brides out there to see what you think. I am really excited to go see the Meadow Club, I would love to get some feedback from people who picked the M.C. or if you looked at it and didn't chose, how come? THANKS so much!

Re: Best Place to have Ceremony & Reception?

It's really hard to say. What are you looking for? How big is your wedding? What is your price range? Do you want 1 wedding at a time? etc...

I've heard good and bad things about all of those places..but I've never been to a wedding at any of them...incidentally I know the owners of 2 of them..haha Good Luck

ETA: I picked North Ritz Club because I wanted a place that was 1 wedding at a time, not too far, and would fit up to 200 people to be safe. We also loved the high quality of service they have and the bautiful granite dance floor.

We also looked at riviera but we didn't like the layout, it was too small for us, and we didn't like the fact that they only have 1 waiter per 2 tables. 1 waiter per table is important to me

Re: Best Place to have Ceremony & Reception?

I have to say Chateau La Mer. I had my wedding outside in a gazebo on the water, then they took me away in a yacht and fed my DH & I chocolate covered strawberries, then we came back and had a cocktail hour and reception on the water, and inside the view is also incredible! It was the CHEAPEST price I got, and it was my favorite! They just had the WOTY there.

Heres some pics of the gazebo

Re: Best Place to have Ceremony & Reception?

In answer to your question, I looked at MC and didn't choose it. My number one reason for not going there was that I wanted a location where I would be the only bride. The banquet manager we met with did offer to find a date where one room was booked for an affair other than a wedding, but that didn't really make me feel any better due to the common areas. However, I found other problems. Both my mom & FMIL have arthritis and the bathrooms are on downstairs with no elevator. I found the carpets dirty at the entrance and in the lobby. The lobby was too small for my taste, especially if there is more than one party starting at the same time.

FH & I went there for his company x-mas party, and it served only to confirm that I was correct in my decision.

Re: Best Place to have Ceremony & Reception?

I am biased, but I loved North Ritz Club - only one wedding at a time, beautiful garden with a natural pond and gorgeous ballroom.

My other choices would be Thatched Roof Cottage or Beach Club estate - I loved their outdoor area.

I did not see the other locations that you mentioned so I can't make an educated comment about them.

Re: Best Place to have Ceremony & Reception?

I think it all depends on price range... WHAT IS YOUR PRICE RANGE??

low: The Meadow Club, Crescent Beach Club
medium: Westbury Manor, Villa Lombardis
high: Flowerfield, Lands End, Lombardi's on the Sound
VERY high: the garden city hotel, carlyle on the green, brooklyn botanical garden, oheka

Re: Best Place to have Ceremony & Reception?

I had my wedding at the watermill - both ceremony and reception and i was very pleased!

we looked at the meadow club as well, but i wasn't thrilled with it - just not my taste.

north ritz is beautiful - my cousin's wedding was there and it is very elegant.

i went to the WOTY at Chateau La Ler yesterday and that is also a lovely location. I didn't get to see the outside because it was nasty out, but the inside was very pretty

Re: Best Place to have Ceremony & Reception?

I haven't been to many weddings where both the ceremony & reception was taking place. We are getting married at the Fox Hollow...but again, I can't actually say that's the best place. You really have to just figure out what you want from your hall first.

Re: Best Place to have Ceremony & Reception?

We are paying for the entire event ourselves...we are aiming to spend somewhere between $20,000 & $25,000. We are looking for low price range, but good quality! We would love to have the ceremony outside, but have a nice indoor alternative in case of bad weather. And then have a nice indoor area for our 175 guests. Ok, now...what do you think?

I looked at NRC as well for a December wedding and they gave me a list of dates (FH decided he wanted the reception at a hotel because of large number of OOT guests). They had weddings booked though past June.

ETA: There are so many great reception places on Long Island, it all depends on what you are looking for, how many guests you have, and how much you'd like to spend.

low: The Meadow Club, Crescent Beach Club

FYI, Crescent Beach Club is significantly more expensive than Westbury Manor and Villa Lombardi's.
I'd vote for the Crescent. The ceremony is on the beach looking out at the water. It's really beautiful.

Re: Best Place to have Ceremony & Reception?

I'm a past Westbury Manor bride and I can honestly say...I cannot get enough of that place. They're AMAZING!!! They have the most beautiful grounds you will ever see, which make taking pictures perfect! We had our cermony & reception at WM. We did not have to take pics anywhere else during the day, so our day started nice and early at WM. If you're interested in seeing pictures send me an FM I'll be happy to share some of ours with you.

Oh...and...the food is out of this world!!!
