Re: how would you word this??

I would put something like:

The honor of your presence is requested at the wedding of

Mary XXXX
Daughter of Mr & Mrs. XXXXX

and

Bob XXXX
Son of Mrs. XXXXX

Re: how would you word this??

Hi guys, what about if my dad and me and FI are paying? I don;t want to sound mean, but I do not want his parents names on it. I just brought this up to him and he said he wanted his parents recognized. I guess I'm still bitter over the fact that they have not even sent an engagement card let alone a gift and they are not paying for the rehearsal dinner. They don't even ask how our plans are going.. What should I do?

Re: how would you word this??

My father passed away in July and to be honest, we wanted to honor his name but a person who is deceased cannot perform the action of inviting. To me, being that he passed away so recently, we felt it too morbid to but 'the late' on the invitation - I just don't like it. SO we had it written on the invitation as:

'Mrs. John Smith (obviously not my Dad's name) requests the honor of your presence at the marriage of her daughter...'

A widow retains the use of her husband's name until and unless she remarries and/or changes it again.
