I love this picture...(Post one if you have one!!!)

I was looking for my parent's wedding picture for our place card table. How '50s' is this? They got married at high noon on a Sunday in a Manhattan hotel. Dad wore a cut-away tuxedo with an ascot and a top hat. Do any of you have YOUR parent's wedding picture?

I have to say your moms dress is beautiful!! I look at wedding pictures from the 80s and 90s and think ' What wear they thinking'. When I see ones from the 50s and 60s the women look so elegant.

My mom and I were looking at my mom and dad's wedding pic a couple of weeks ago.

I Love looking at their pic, especially how different the photography was back then.

I wish I could post but I don't have a scanner.

Thats so cool that you have such a sweet pic of you parents!!
Unfortuantely, my mother had me and my sister out of wedlock & never married our fathers.

I hope your mom is feeling better & recouperating

If the dress werent a nice shade of yellow now, I would have considered wearing it. Its truly a classic.

I have one of my grandparents!! My grandmother was born in 1920, so I'd say this pic is from about 1940..

OH WAIT!! it says 1936 on it!! And actually, I think this is my grandmothers sister...

I have more...my dad had these all put on a cd...

1st one is my grandmother and her sister,
second is my grandmothers wedding, and I have no idea who the third couple is!!!

All of these classic and classy dresses seal the deal that my dress is too trendy but hey, I have always been rather unconventional.

wow! your mom's dress was beautiful and elegant.

I recently saw a pic of my aunt's wedding gown from the 50's as well and it was stunning! off the sholder and all lace on the top and the whole bottom was silk and a very full skirt.

makes you wonder what happened to bridal gowns in the 80's - early 90's!

ETA: one of my friends got married in 1991 and her shoulders were SO POUFFY that they were higher than her chin! not to mention the bows! they were EVERYWHERE! and those stands of plastic pearls....

WOW I love old wedding photos. When I worked for the ambulances doing transports I had the joy of seeing many beautiful old wedding photos. Unfortunely, I was because either the bride or groom were on their last legs.

One very sad case. I had to pick this woman up to take her to hospits, and I met her husband as we entered the house and there over her bed was this HUGE picture of the two of the on their wedding day. It was creepy because their the very weak and dying bride.

As much as its sad, it wad kinda beautiful, because look how long that marriage last. Her husband was with her to the very end and that is both the saddest but one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

Look how huge their B-ks are. Their bigger than their heads. I kinda like that look. I want a big Bou-k for my wedding.

awwww... leslie, thats so sweet. My parents weren't married long. Its beautiful they lasted and had a full marriage. Have a special dance with your mom, you both deserve it!
