BM color questions
My wedding is around christmas time so I wnated a holiday theme, so my original thought was to use a cranberry or wine color and my mom could wear hunter green, etc...the the flowers would incorporate the red color with winter greenery, etc. But FH and I have been to 6 family weddings in the past few years and 5 of them have had red BM gowns. I'm almost sick of looking at red and I don't really want to have the same as everyone else. IS cranberry different enough from red red? Can I go with plum (my fave color is purple) and still have a holiday winter theme. Thoughts? Should I go to the florist and see what they think?

Re: BM color questions
Go with what you want. Florists can help you too in a big way. Look at dresses and find some you like. See what colors they come in.

Re: BM color questions
Plum would look really nice! You could add cranberries to your centerpieces and BK.What about green, I have seen that done.
Or maybe have Moh in cranberry and the girls in silver,
Or maybe find a dress that you could have cranberry color on top and black on the bottom.
My BM dresses are pink on top and black on bottom. Bill Levkoff has a few dresses like that.

I know what you mean about the color red. Personally I dont like the color red red ... it looks to 'showy' for BM's but cranberry is a beautiful color. I think its a little more refined than red red. Other colors you can use are silver, champagne, you can def. use a plum color, deep burgandy, or navy blue. My wedding is planned for dec 14, 2007 and my florist is in West Babylon (Simple Elegance.) I booked her on the spot. They were on News 12 a fe weeks ago as a 'best kept secret.' She had so many amazing ideas I was blown away. She is making me christmas garland for the Dais and to out other areas - its black magic roses greenery with ivory pearls strung throughout. so elegant! anyway, hope this was helpful - best of luck!

Re: BM color questions
i am doing 'claret' its not red but its not plum its in between. What about a light blue or silver??? then you can do a winter wedding but with a different spin , like have everything like a winter wonderland of snow/ice i think that is pretty as well

Re: BM color questions
I think that plum would be a fabulous color for a winter wedding. There are so many options that you can do with it and i even seen purple tinted poinsettas over the holiday season that would complement it very well

Re: BM color questions
Plum is fine.I went to a wedding during the holiday season this year and the bridesmaids wore black dresses and carried red flowers with christmas greens as the bouquets. It looked very holiday-ish as well.
I'm thinking claret colored dresses, or cranberry (now that I switched designers) but, I'm finding it popular as well. My other choice originally was platinum.

Re: BM color questions
i went with raylia designs for my BM dresses and they have many colors to choose from and lots of purple choices and also a few different shades of red. i ordered theirs through ellaparkbridal.com and they have color charts online but this was one that came into mind when you were talking about the red that is different from other dresses i seen and the tops/bottoms are reversible... which is neat and only $136 (shown in toffee and burgandy)raylia color chart:
and if you call ella park customer service they will send you color swatches in whatever colors you are interested in and the material that you are interested in as well...hope this helps!!!!

Re: BM color questions
have you thought about black. I went to a christmas themed wedding and they wore black. They had pointsettas(Spelling?) for bouquets and centerpieces and they stood out off the black and looked great. The pics were amazing. Super elegant!!!!!!!!!!!Welcome New Vendors
