picking a date

Hi
This is my first time posting and I am just starting to plan and so forth. I have a question regarding picking a date. I have a date in mind but I found out a friend of some of my friends has already picked that same date for their wedding. Should i let that get in my way?

Thanks

Re: picking a date

Hi..welcome! Is this girl friends with some of the girls that will be in your bridal party? If so, you risk the fact that they may be asked to be in the other wedding too. If you think that you and this girl have a lot of people in common and that it may cause you to not have the people you want at your wedding, I would reconsider the date. It's your special day - you probably don't want to share it.

Re: picking a date

I had the same thing. I picked a different date. I wanted our mutual friends to be able to attend both.

Edit: WELCOME! and happy planning.

Re: picking a date

I think it would depend on how many similar people it will affect and their significance to you. For example, I was considering choosing 12/2/06 but found out that a close friend of several of my closest friends (including one of my BM's) was already getting married that day. I opted for a different day since it was too important to me not to have those couple of close friends there.

Re: picking a date

I would consider a different day.
But you would be surprised how many dates are not available for 2006 anymore.
Good luck.
