Time between ceremony and reception

Time between ceremony and reception

What is the appropriate time between ceremony and reception, I dont want a long wait, but might have to have like 3 hours in between?

I am worried about this because there will be a lot of kids at the wedding and feel they will fall asleep before dinner is served.

Anyone else having this problem?

I have my ceremony at 4 and my CH starts at 8

i figure we will be at the church for about an hour with the ceremony and pics and junk and then we have some time to go to the park for pictures and get to the hall.

Maybe I'm crazy. Our ceremony will be at 5:30 and reception (cocktail hour) at 7. We may do the girls bridal party pics before the ceremony but we'rs not doing many pics before hand.

Cereomy 3:00 (photographer would like us to move it to 2:30)

CH at 7:00

One hour drive between locations and sunset is at 6:20.

Ceremony at 2:30, and cocktail hour at 6:30. Pictures in between. We can show up at reception hall at 5:30 though to take some pictures there as well, so not that bad.
