Picture I love

It's a little blurry - my uncle took almost 400 pics at my wedding. This was taken at our Badeken (or vieling ceremony). It was the first time DH and I had seen eachother in 7 days. I love this picture because you can just see the tears in my eyes (it was a very emotional and moving part of the wedding, which takes place during the cocktail hour, just before the ceremony.) In Jewish Tradition, there's a ceremony in which the groom veils the bride to make sure she is in fact the woman he has intended to marry. This is the explanation we put in the program.

The Badekin (Veiling the Bride)
It is custom for the Chattan (Groom) and Kallah (Bride) to not see each other for the week leading up to the wedding, so we meet for the first time today at the Badekin Ceremony. Leonard will cover Michelle with her veil. The custom of wearing a veil originates with our matriarch Rebecca who veiled herself upon seeing Isaac for the first time. In order to avoid the possibility that the Chattan may be tricked into marrying the wrong veiled woman, as our patriarch Jacob was with the veiled Leah, Leonard himself places the veil over Michelle.
