My 12/3 Wedding Review With Tons of Pics ... The Westbury Manor, Body Rock, Pedestals, Hair Genie, etc..

First off, I must say that our wedding day was perfect! The weather was great – it was a little cold, but it was sunny and beautiful! The day absolutely flew by – as everyone said it would. I tried my best to savor each moment – but found myself easily getting caught up in the craziness of the day.

If I could give advice to future brides and if there was one lesson that I took away from this all is... RELAX AND ENJOY EVERY SECOND OF YOUR DAY!!! Before you know it, it's over. Don't stress over the little things. In the scheme of things - it won't matter!

Overall, it was an absolutely amazing day and I wish I could go back and do it all again! LI Weddings was an excellent resource and I just want to thank all of you ladies for your comments, suggestions and advice. I certainly gained a lot of wonderful tips from this web site and only hope that my review is helpful to some future brides!

Dress – Lilette’s, Baldwin, NY – A
My experience with Lilette’s was wonderful. I found my dress relatively quickly when I met with Litia. She was great and had me try on an array of different style dresses – even though I was intent on buying something with sleeves. She wanted me to be sure that that was what I wanted. My dress was very reasonably priced and arrived on time! All of my fittings went very smoothly. Franchesca was my seamtress – she was absolutely by far the sweetest little Italian lady that I have ever met. I wanted the front of my dress altered to come up a little higher but didn’t want it to look like it wasn’t supposed to be that way. She came up with a wonderful solution and made she I was 100 percent happy with it before she made the alteration permanent. Overall, Lilette’s was great and I’d recommend them to anyone.

Invitations – Write Impressions, Merrick, NY - A-
I had a good experience getting our invitations at Write Impressions. My sister used them years ago and that’s why I went there. The service was good … the ladies who work there are just a little snooty, but overall, they were fine. I received a proof very soon after ordering the invitations. Soon after, my invites arrived. Everything was perfect. Write Impressions also gives 20 percent off of all their wedding invites. We used Encore, and they were very reasonable.

Flowers – Pedestals Florist, Garden City Park, NY – A++++
I was one of those brides who booked Pedestals on the spot after only meeting with them once. After booking them and reading these boards, I got nervous that maybe I made the wrong decision. I stuck with Pedestals because I had seen their work at other weddings and just trusted my gut that I wouldn’t be disappointed. Well, I was right!!!! Erin was our consultant. She was great to work with. My sample CP was amazing and I was so excited to see what it all looked like on the day of. When my flowers arrived at my house the morning of my wedding, I almost feel over! They were gorgeous!!!! My bok was HUGE – maybe even a little larger than I would have wanted it to be quite honest – but it was absolutely gorgeous! The thing felt like it weighed 50 pounds! My BM’s flowers were beautiful as were the church arrangements, pew bows and centerpieces at the reception. I was so happy with the way they decorated our cake too – it looked amazing! Overall, my experience with Pedestals was wonderful. Anyone who is using them can rest assured that they have absolutely nothing to worry about!

String trio for ceremony – Encore Music, West Hempstead, NY – A+
The string trio that we booked for our church ceremony was phenomenal! I found them in a Long Island Wedding Pages magazine after researching different string ensembles. Let me just say …. WOW - what a nice touch it added to our ceremony!!!!! Patricia, the owner, is so sweet and wonderful to work with. She invited me into her home to go over the music selections and be sure that I knew what I wanted. They were reasonably priced, early to the church on the day of wedding, and did an absolutely amazing job!!! Anyone thinking of having a string trio, quartet, etc. should definitely look into them! This was by far one of my favorite vendors to work with!!!

DJ for CH and Reception – Body Rock Entertainment, Carle Place, NY – A
What can I say…. Body Rock rocked!!! They were easy to work with, affordable, and did pretty much everything we asked them to do at our reception! We had very specific requests and a specific tone we were trying to set for our reception. We wanted people to be able to get up and enjoy the music but I also didn’t want it too be too loud or obtrusive to guests who maybe didn’t feel like dancing. We wanted people to have fun and enjoy themselves in a relaxed environment - and Body Rock helped to create that setting. The music was perfect – they played great selections and it was at the perfect noise level – loud but not so loud that you had to leave the room to think! Overall, our experience with Body Rock was excellent!!

Photographer – Duval Photography, Wantagh NY – B
If I could possibly change one vendor, it may be this one. I used them because my sister used them 5 years ago and was very happy. Overall, now that we see our proofs – I am very happy. But the day of, I was so annoyed! My photographer, John, and his assistant, Mike, were not the quickest people to say the least. It felt like it was taking forever for them to set up, break down, etc. The arrived ½ hour early to my house, which was great – but got me all frazzled because my hair wasn’t even done and I was no where near dressed! Pictures at my house before the reception went relatively smooth. At the church, they were a little all over the place. During the cocktail hour, my goal was to get most, if not all, of the family shots out of the way. John was so slow though and we didn’t get any of those photos taken. He took several of my husband and I during the CH – which was good – but we ending up missing our entire CH. I was so annoyed. During the reception, he kept pulling us out for pictures. I felt like I never got to sit and relax for more than 5 minutes. Looking back now that we have our proofs (which came out beautiful I must say!) I really don’t regret anything … however … if I could do it all again, I might have looked into some other options before booking this vendor right away.

Limousine – Executive Limousine, Bellmore, NY – A+
My family has used Executive for years so that is why we booked them. We only got 1 limo since I had a very small bridal party. The driver was early, the limo was brand new, and they were reasonably priced compared to other limo companies. We rented an aisle runner from them which the driver rolled out for me at the church. He did a great job.

Hair – Jenn, The Hair Genie – A+
To add to the million and one positive reviews of the Hair Henie, let me say that Jenn was awesome. I was so happy with my hair!! Although I had a trial with her, up until that day I wasn’t sure how I really wanted to wear my hair. Because I had a cathedral length mantilla veil (lace trim on the edges) I wanted to make sure I had the right updo to go with it. On the morning of our wedding, I told her to do whatever and that I trusted her completely! She did an amazing ½ updo with this awesome front side part – I loved it. My BM’s hair came out awesome, as did my mom’s. Jenn is wonderful at what she does and is definitely one of those people who you want around the morning of your wedding to make you laugh and keep you calm.

Makeup – Oksana – A+
All I can say is – WOW!!! She did an absolutely amazing job on all of us!!!! I absolutely LOVED my makeup! I looked flawless and the make up looked so natural in my pictures! I got so many compliments about my hair and makeup from my guests. Everyone loved the way they looked. Oksana is a sweetheart and I would totally recommend her to all future brides.

Reception – The Westbury Manor – A++++++++
Our reception was AMAZING! The Westbury Manor did an absolutely wonderful job!!! The Christmas decorations that were up looked exquisite. Our cocktail hour was held upstairs in the Executive Suite. My only complaint is that it was definitely tight in that room. We had 116 guests. For our reception, we were in the Garden Room and fit perfectly! The food was delicious and to this day everyone is talking about how excellent it was and how much of it there was!! People were shocked that they had 7 choices for dinner! The cake was DELICIOUS!!! We picked vanilla cake w/vanilla buttercream icing and raspberry filling. It was amazing! Raul was our Matre D and Lupita was our bridal attendant – both did a phenomenal job! From the day we walked into the Westbury Manor to look at the venue, we were treated like royalty. We had always heard great things about them, but I actually had to experience it myself to really believe it! Well, they were phenomenal! Any future Westbury Manor bride should feel so confident in her choice – you are in wonderful hands. The Westbury Manor does an amazing job!

Honeymoon – The Westin St. John Resort and Villas, St. John, USVI – A++++++
St. John is soooooo beautiful!!! I would recommend it in a heartbeat. There’s tons to do but its also low key and not so “touristy”. The weather was amazing, the beaches – pristine. My husband and I spent 11 days there and it was perfect! We rented a villa at the Westin St. John which was a FABULOUS idea!!! We had a washer/dryer and a full kitchen, which enabled us to make some meals in which was nice! We ate out almost every dinner and the food just got more amazing each night! The island is a true tropical paradise and we are already talking about going back for our 5 year anniversary! If you want more info about the Westin or St. John, please feel free to FM me!!
