Update: Please do not pull over for a grey pontiac with a red flashing light on the top

My mom works at Barton Elementary School in Patchogue. Before they left yesterday her principal called and emergency meeting.

A mom who was coming to pick up her son from Barton was "pulled over" by an unmarked car on Barton Avenue and then robbed. She then drove to the school and told them who warned faculty and called police. Police said the same thing had also happened yesterday on 112.

I have not seen it on the news yet.. PLEASE BE CAREFUL! IF YOU NEED TO PULLOVER FOR SOMEONE WHO YOU THINK IS POLICE GO TO A GAS STATION OR A VERY BUSY AREA. Id call the police and give them the license plate # to see if he is real.

*UPDATE I just saw it on news 12. Hes a hispanic male between 5'6" and 5'9" and I didnt realize he robber her at gunpoint. How scary! She had a baby in the car at the time too! Thank God $$ was all he wanted.

I haven't heard this story but I think it's VERY IMPORTANT for everyone to know that you do NOT have to pull over for an unmarked car. You should call a dispatcher and let them know that an unmarked car is trying to pull you over - they can check to see if someone is supposed to be in that area.

Never ever ever pull over for anything short of a police officer!

I just wanted to add that even if a marked cop car is trying to pull you over, go to a busy area first, put on your hazzards so the cop knows you are not trying to run from him and call the dispatcher to tell her what you are doing. She can relay this to the officer.
