Hair extensions
Is anyone thinking of doing them? I have fine hair and I want to have my hair half up/half down - which would be impossible with my hair right now! Does anyone know of a good place and maybe a price range? Thanks girls!

Re: Hair extensions
I'm getting them b/c I have long hair, but it's rather fine, and need the extra volume in order to have a half up/down do.My hairdresser is putting them in, and charging me $80 to put them in, and then $75 for the actual style.
However, I'm located in Brooklyn and so is she, so I don't think that's of any help.

Re: Hair extensions
My hair wasnt long enough to do anything fancy with so my stylist suggested an extension. I nixed that faster than you can say 'I DO' and just chopped my hair off. I do not like the idea of an extension for myself. It just isnt me.

True, for the more 'permanent' ones...but for just the wedding the ones that last about two weeks - max $300

Re: Hair extensions
I got the permanent ones about a month ago. Cost me close to $2,000 bucks. I hate them. They hurt, I can't sleep on them, they fall out all over the place, I have hair all over my clothes, apt, etc. Yuck. When I get board I pick at them so I lose chunks at a time. I keep cutting it. I already cut off 8 inches that was put on. I can't stand it. My hair was long for about a week, then I started chopping. I don't recommend the permanent ones. Get the clip ons. Now my hair is slightly longer than it was before, by maybe an inch. Not worth the pain. Too much maintanence too.

Re: Hair extensions
There are so many different types of extensions that it really depends on what you need them for - one day - 6 months. The price can range depending on the technique used (glue in, clip on, sew in) and the way it's done. Strand by Strand - also called fusion is the most expensive I think. Lots of celebs have them - the fusion is what Beyonce Knowles wears.
My stylist was a celebrity stylist for years in NYC & LA. She does all types of extension and the price ranges from $10 - $20 for one glued in track (a weft of hair on a base of thread) up to $1K or more for fusion. A few other ladies in her salon put in extensions too and I have seen their work. I am so amazed at how ladies come in with 6 inches of hair and leave with 20 inches.
