Deposits for major vendors???

What % did you put down as a deposit for the big ones?
I am trying to work out my budget... I don't need $$s, just %.
So far, I know this one:
Photographer/ Videographer- 20%
I still need:
DJ
Flowers
Limos
... Am I missing something else?

Oh, yeah.
Well, hall and dress are taken care of (thanks mom and dad!). And the church is also already deposited...
Would you mind estimating the set amount? I have NO CLUE...
Urgh. I think 20% is a large deposit, maybe I can just figure that...
Will anyone let me OVER deposit? I want to get as much paid as possible, while we have the $$!!!

we put down about 30% on flowers, limos, photographer and video.

ETA: We also had to leave a small deposit with our DOC and for our HM.

Yes, I am sure they will let you over deposit. Who wouldn't take more money?

we had to leave 20% for our photo/video
10 % for limos and DJ
we haven't done flowers yet so I don't know. HTH

every vendor has different requirements for deposits. this was our breakdown:

photographer - 1/3 of the total price
DJ - $100
Florist - 1/2 of the total price (but she is negotiable with that)
Hall - $1000
Limos - 20%
Hair - 1/2 of the total price
Makeup - $25

ETA: just wanted to add that we booked our vendors 7-8 months before our wedding. that is also a factor in how much you have to put down as a deposit.

So far we haven't been asked for a percentage, but an amount. For the DJ's it was $100, photo and vidoe $500 each, etc

It really does vary- some have $$ some do %.

Photo- 500
Flowers- 10% - 50% of balance 1 month before
DJ- 500
Limo- 500

I forget the rest but it was usually between 10-20% and if it was $$ it was about 500....

For flowers- it depends on what kind of flowers you get and what kind of CP.

Good luck! Just a tip I wish FH I would have been able to do ourselves- if you charge vendors (and some of them you might want to for your security-the Card can be your advocate if there are problems) use one with sky miles and that can help pay for your HM flight! One of my co-workers upgraded to 1st class with her miles!
