Help with last minute receptial hall suggestions?

Hi Everyone - Please help! I am at my wits end with looking for reception halls. I have been trying to find something 'different' - classy, elegant, impressive & not too overdone or gaughty - maybe I am being too picky?? I am hoping to find something around $100/pp all inclusive with tax & tip. I will be guaranteeing 125 people minimum for a Friday night, but will probably invite 165 so it will need to accommodate up to around that # of people. I was really leaning toward the OldField Club in Setauket, but nowt I'm not sure. Other places that I have looked at are:

Crescent Beach Club - (liked it, too expensive)
Vanderbuilt Mansion - (liked it, but not sure)
Atlantica - (loved, too expensive)
Raphael - (way too expensive)
Thatched Cottage - (not impressed)
Harrison House - (pretty, too expensive)
Beach Club Estate - (not impressed)
Metropolitan Club - (liked, but not a fit for me)
EastWind Caterers - (liked, but unsure, not a favorite)

Outside of this, I have also looked at about 8 places in Westchester which is where my family is from. So I am driving myself nuts! I am trying to book for June 2006, so I am running out of time. Can anyone give me some suggestions of a place that I might have overlooked? Also, any feedback on OldField would be appreciated. I like it, but I'm wondering if my guests would like something a little more fancy vs the OldField's quaint/simple style. Sorry for the long post, but I am getting desperate . Thanks - Laura

Re: Help with last minute receptial hall suggestions?

I would look at Giorgio's. Not sure what their minimum guarantee on a Friday night is, or if they will have it available. When I looked there they had no Saturday nights left in 2006 (but not sure about Friday).

I'm also partial to Watermill, but they were very limited on dates as well.

I also looked at Bellport Country Club which I really liked.

HTH!

Re: Help with last minute receptial hall suggestions?

watermill? (yes i'm biased as they are my hall...but they are just gorgeous in my eyes)

miller place inn? (very intimate...one wedding at a time)

verdi's of westbury? (found their prices to be very reasonable)

good luck!

one more thing...try this website, at least you can view a large list of halls and be able to call them one by one for their availability:

Re: Help with last minute receptial hall suggestions?

I went to a wedding at Old Field Club and thought it was charmingly beautiful. I LOVED that it was so off the beaten path, and was beautiful in an unglamorous kind of way (like a woman who is beautiful without any make up). If you got a feeling in your gut that YOU love the place, then don't worry about anything else!

Re: Help with last minute receptial hall suggestions?

I would have it at the Old Field Club. It sounds like it has everything you're looking for and I wouldn't worry that it's too simple. It's a blank canvas and you can decorate it however you like. I almost booked The Old Field Club myself, but I fell in love with The Bourne Mansion. For the price, I think the Old Field Club is your best bet! Good Luck.....

I agree, Giorgios is very classy.
So is Bellport Country Club, and I am obviuously partial to The Hamlet Willow Creek!
I think all 3 of these are elegant... FM me if you want examples of the pricing I was given.

Re: Help with last minute receptial hall suggestions?

I LOVED the Old Field Club, and but for the fact that the banquet manager was brand new, and they were in the process of completely redoing the menu etc etc, and I didn't want to wait until it was all finished I would have booked there. Instead, I went to East Wind. The Country Gardens has (IMHO) a very similar feel to it with, and based on what I was being offered way back when at the Old Field Club, compared to EW, I am getting more bang for my buck at East Wind.

Re: Help with last minute receptial hall suggestions?

If you want a place similiar to Old Field club. You shoud try the Washington Manor or Milleridge Inn located in Syosset. Washington Manor is about $70 a person. Located in Roslyn. I chose the Woodbury CC B/c we are having the ceremony at the Catering hall and I wanted beautiful grounds for the ceremony.

Vineyard Caterer's - they did an amazing job at my wedding

Calverton Links - We had the rehearsal dinner here but honestly it was a beautiful place on its own and many of my relatives really loved this place as well.

Re: Help with last minute receptial hall suggestions?

Well. I am biased b/c Giorgio's in my hall, but it really is lovey. BUT I don't think they will be the right price for you.

I would try The Meadow Club. We had my grandparent's 50th anniversary party there and it was very nice. And we went to a wedding there in June and it was lovely! They have a nice patio for the cocktail hour

hope that helps!
